Both are great handset and come with markedly different strengths. Lava Xolo X1000 vs Micromax A116 Canvas HD specs and features showdown makes interesting reading
Lava’s Xolo X1000 is among the best handsets launched in the country by any local mobile vendor. The company claimed that it was the fastest smart-phone manufactured ever that ran on an Intel processor. Though that may not be very true that we have eight core processors in smart-phones hitting the market –Galaxy S4 being just one instance –but it is needless to say that the claim gave it huge media exposure across the world. For a small smart-phone manufacturer this was a huge achievement and no one can discount the importance of the achievement.
The same sort of headlines the company hogged when it launched its first Intel based handset over a year ago. It was the first handset to have an Intel processor and there was no doubt it was a great feat that the company achieved so early in its existence. But that same level of media attention didn’t bring the sort of market success that it was anticipating and I fear the same may happen this time round too. Its last handset that came with Intel chip X800 was not a huge success due to several reasons including a very short battery life, we have to see if the company has improved in this department.
To be true, this is a very beautiful handset that can compete with top smart-phone manufacturers’ in design and its make quality. The handset is the first smart-phone from any Indian manufacturer to have come with such a beautiful handset and so impressive specifications. The handset comes with 4.7-inch TFT LCD has a 2.5 D Edge-to-Edge curved glass panel that is crisp and viewing angles looked real good. Its 720 x 1280 pixel resolution makes watching anything on the handset a very memorable experience.
The latest Lava Xolo handset comes with many strengths. It comes with a very impressive 8 mega pixel camera. Its camera has been rather very impressive than anything we had in other smart-phone cameras so far. As far as its display is concerned, Xolo X1000 comes with a 4.7-inch SHARP HD 2.5D edge curved glass display with a decent resolution of 720X1280 pixels. Besides 2GHz Intel Atom Z2480 processor the handset comes with 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, which is expandable by up to 32GB via microSD.
Lava has used its strenghts very shrewdly. Meanwhile even before the launch of the handset and after its market introduction the company is emphasizing on its partnership with Intel and its processors. Vishal Sehgal of Lava while talking to the media says, “”Our partnership with Intel continues. With the first XOLO device X900 in April last year, we redefined speed and performance by bringing in the first 1.6GHz Intel HT based smartphone to the world. Earlier this year, with XOLO X500, we bought this high-speed smartphone experience into the sub 10K price segment. Now, with XOLO X1000 and its 2Ghz Intel HT processor, the customers will get to experience an entirely new definition of speed and performance. That, added to the stunning looks of this smartphone, is sure to take the breath away of our ever-growing tribe of XOLO lovers”. But to be true 2GHz Intel Atom Z2480 processor cannot be called the fastest processor as there are far better processors being put in smart-phones. Nonetheless if it attracts media, there is no point not talking about it.
But the handset faces tough challenge from several great handsets launched in the market in recent months and the toughest competition will come from a very beautiful handset. Micromax A116 Canvas HD is going to post toughest challenge before it. If there is one smart-phone in this category that has come to symbolise change and overall improvement in the quality of handset in affordable price range, it is this handset. It comes with very impressive body, great build quality and specifications that are higher than the category we have put it in. It is an Android phablet from the key Indian mobile maker Micromax. It has been announced with a 5-inch IPS LCD display that has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The Canvas HD is up with a 1.2GHz quad core Cortex-A7 (MTK MT6589) processor, 1GB of RAM. It is available in the market for less than Rs 14000 and beats Samsung’s much pricier Galaxy Grand hands down.
