It is yet to appear in stores. But Google Glass has been banned by a Seattle bar due to privacy concerns. Its release date and actual price are still unknown
Google Glass is yet to make its entry into the market. But long before its launch the smart glasses from the search giant are already making waves. And mind you the privacy concerns are so high in the minds of a few people due to sophisticated performances of the smart-glasses that establishments are hurrying up to ban it in their premises. If you can’t believe me, I must tell you that there is already a bar in Seattle that has banned Google goggles in its premises.
Google Glass is one product that has put Google into focus as a credible company that is working hard and trying to innovate new products and not just following the beaten path. To most techies this seems to be most revolutionary product that has been introduced in the last several years. Many people were earlier thinking that the project Google Glasses will die its own death like several previous Google projects. But Google seems to have succeeded in proving the naysayers absolutely wrong.
The owner of the Seattle-based The 5 Point bar is the first to actually ban the Google Goggles long before its market launch. Dave Meinert, the owner of the bar says that he is banning people wearing the Google glasses because it will violate people’s privacy. While making the announcement on Facebook to actually ban the glasses he said, “For the record, The 5 Point is the first Seattle business to ban in advance Google Glasses. And ass kickings will be encouraged for violators.”
Google glasses are a revolutionary idea. There is no doubt about it. No doubts that the Glass will change the way you consume information completely. It will change your experience of sharing content over the internet and also the way you interact with the world around you. Among all this, the biggest issue that has now come to the mind of experts is ‘privacy’. The current technology enables you to take pictures and shoot videos on your mobile phone. It can be known that someone is doing so because for doing so, you have to hold the device in your hands.
They seem to be more efficient that we might even think. It will not be easy for you to guess if someone is taking your pictures or shooting videos. It is not necessary that all Glass users will secretly take pictures but the problem is that they ‘can’ do so without anyone knowing about it. This also makes a possibility for the Glass to be banned from being worn in public or at government places. The Glass wearers might also make non-Glass users feel a little uncomfortable being around them thinking that they are being recorded. You can try your luck by applying for a Google Glass. But this is going to cost you $1500, no big deal if you want to show off a revolutionary and very exclusive product.
