LG Optimus G has been launched in India for Rs 34000. This is great handset, but its 13 mega pixel camera is not exceptional
LG Optimus G has finally landed in India. The handset is among the best available in the market and will do reasonably well given that it is not very pricey compared to its market competitors. Though its official price is around Rs34000, it is available on heavy several websites with heavy discount. If you are lucky you can get this beautiful handset with all the luring for just about Rs 30000. Remember a newly launched handset from BlackBerry with apparently similar specifications is available for Rs 43000 without any discount.
So in one sense it looks a real steal. But given the fact that there are several other handsets that are also available in the same or even lower price band, this creates some issues for brand conscious Indian customers. But it has some plus points over its competitors including fellow South Korean company Samsung’s Galaxy S3. Because LG Optimus has certain edge over Galaxy S 3, especially in the processor power and camera quality may tilt the users’ decision in favour of Optimus G.
As far as build quality of the handset is concerned, the handset comes with a beautiful quality and great body. To be true, the handset and Nexus 4 that LG manufactured for search giant Google look a lot similar to Optimus 4 at least when it comes to its back’s design. Its 4.7-inch TrueHD IPS+ display is amongst the best in the class. Besides it has Corning Gorilla Glass 2 that make it all the more better.
The handset comes with excellent processor in its class, so multitasking seems the easiest thing on it. The Optimus G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 APQ8064 quad-core processor that’s clocked at 1.5GHz. To be true many tests and performance have shown it to perform better than Samsung’s Galaxy S3
The handset that was the best when launched in the market ran on Ice Cream Sandwich. But its Indian edition runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.
As far as camera is concerned, the handset has a reasonably good 13 mega pixel camera. Though it is not the best on the market, but it at least gets the job done. By 13 mega pixel, many people can infer that it will be always better than an 8 mega pixel camera. A report suggests that its rear camera doesn’t do well in low-light situations, and secondly, setting the focal point was occasionally frustrating—it seemed to get fiddly at crucial moments. But otherwise it is an excellent camera and gets the things done properly.
