Millions of iPhone 4S users were in for a shock when they were told by Vodafone not to update their devices to iOS 6.1. For many of the iPhone 4S users the launch iOS 6.1 update was natural and they were looking forward to updating their handsets to the latest firmware update from Cupertino based tech giant.  Reports suggest that in several areas not just in UK, but in several other markets across the world, iOS 6.1 update has caused issues in 3G connectivity. This is especially true in the case of Apple’s second highest selling handset iPhone 4S.

Despite the iPhone 5 launch, iPhone 4S remains one of the highest selling handsets across the world. Many Apple fans say that there isn’t much difference between iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S in features and the only difference is that of size. So many Apple fans are waiting for the next generation iPhone 6 to update their handsets. In US the demand for iPhone 4S remains high as it is a bit cheaper and comes with almost the same specs and features that are part of the latest Apple smart-phone.

In the meantime reports suggest that Vodafone has asked iPhone 4S users not to update to iOS 6.1’ after Apple’s latest iOS update was found to cause issues with 3G internet connections. “Some customers may occasionally experience difficulty in connecting to the network to make or receive calls or texts or to connect to the Internet…Apple is working on a solution to their software issue. These connection problems are intermittent” Vodafone said in an official statement. iOS 6.1 firmware update “brings LTE support to more markets around the world, so even more users can enjoy ultrafast Safari browsing, FaceTime video calls, iCloud services, and iTunes and App Store downloads,” says Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior VP Worldwide Marketing. Because of iOS 6.1, the U.S. cellular service providers like AT&T, Alaska Communications and Alaska GCI, will get LTE capability for various iOS devices. In Canada, it will bring LTE support to Bell, MTS, Rogers, Telus and Sasktel. Optus and Telstra will get the high-speed net connectivity Under Down and in the U.K., Everything Everywhere (EE) will get 4G LTE.

Apple’s one of the best features, Siri voice assistant application gets major update thanks to iOS 6. Through iOS 6.1, Apple has now integrated Fandango, a U.S movie ticket vendor, with Siri so that users can now book film tickets through voice commands. If you ask Siri about the new theater release, the service will direct you to the Fandango app and bring showtimes, rates and other details about nearby theaters. “With this new Siri feature, movie fans can quickly and easily discover the nearest theaters, find the most convenient showtimes, and buy tickets through Fandango to help make movie night perfect,” says Paul Yanover, president of Fandango. So many iPhone 4S owners are feeling let down by the latest instruction from their cellular service provider.
