Google Play Store vs Apple App Store: fight becoming intense

Google Play Store is playing catch up very fast against Apple App Store. Fight is becoming intense as Google’s Play Store starts making serious money for the search giant as well as for app developers

Search giant Google is taking on Cupertino based Apple in almost every field. It is not very long ago when Google launched its Goole Play Store to muted response and many Apple fans said that it will never be able to compete with Apple. Later when it started playing catch-up game with Apple App Store, they said though it may be getting close in popularity, it will never match the earning potential of Apple App Store.

But probably they were wrong. After giving touch competition to Apple in tablet market reports suggest that search giant’s Google Play Store is set to beat Apple App Store when it comes to revenue before the yearend. So this is going to be another great news for Android fans.

This is happening when Google seems to have belied the fears of competition in search and its earning potential through advertising and some apprehensions about its mobile format. Its stocks are surging faster than anything else and have reached $775.60 per share. Even six months ago no one would have imagined it going up so fast. On the other hand Apple is losing heavily on stock market and its stock value has gone down from $700 per share just three months ago to $453.62 as of now.

Right now reports suggest that Apple App Store is making far more money than Google Play Store for app developers when compared to Android app developers. A report says that Cupertino based Apple brought in around four times more app revenue than Google. But Google is playing catch up very fast. A report says that while Apple grew by around 100 percent, Google Play Store grew by an astounding 700 percent. Its fourth quarter revenue also grew by an impressive 200 percent. Ollie Lo of App Annie says, “Clearly, the Google Play platform is working, and monetization is increasing…The growth is much more than organic … it’s really meteoric, especially in Japan and Korea”. So things are looking very positive for Google that is looking down and down right now.
