Micromax A110 Canvas 2 specs review: best handset for Rs 9990

Micromax A110 Canvas 2 specs may not be as impressive as Samsung Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2, it is the best handset that Rs 9990 can get us.

Micromax A110 Canvas 2 handset is the rage right now across India. The handset with sub Rs 10000 price tag comes with excellent specs and is set to rock the market in the days to come. Though it is not certainly going to compete with the just introduced handset HTC Butterfly or for that matter Apple’s iPhone 5, Samsung’s Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 or for that matter Finnish tech giant Nokia’s Lumia 920, it is going to satisfy the needs of the  average Indian consumers.

For consumers in India right now the emphasis is not on top quality but on getting a smart-phone that fulfills their ordinary needs, and this handset comes handy in accessing internet, sending and receiving emails and having fun with some games and watching videos on the go. Though the video quality may not be very great, nonetheless users are able to watch videos in rather decent quality. Its 5-inch phablet type display makes it all the more attractive to millions of consumers in India.

Just recently, riding on the success of its phablet sized smart-phones Micromax claimed that it was the largest phablet producer in India and not Samsung that some months ago launched it Galaxy Note 2

As far as display is concerned, Micromax A110 comes with a rather huge display. Micromax A110 arrives in the Indian market with a huge 5-inch 262k colour capacitive touch screen with an IPS panel sporting a resolution of 480×854 pixels. Though this is not much to brag about, for many first time smart-phone users it may look rather very enticing. By the way the display resolution is very low and doesn’t produce a good impression. But with such a low price we shouldn’t expect a full HD or Retina display.

The handset comes with bare minimum power to make the handset functional. And during use it seems to be rather very slow some times. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM and runs on Android 4.0.4 ICS straight out-of-the-box. The OS isn’t exactly a vanilla experience as it has the jazzy Micromax wallpaper and Micromax app store in your face but you can easily download a third party skin from the Play store. Micromax A110 Canvas 2 has 2GB built-in storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. For a power consumer who want to play games on his handset, this may not be the best handset to go, nonetheless a budget phone with such size and look it is the best product.

As far as camera is concerned it comes with 8-megapixel autofocus shooter that is capable of taking pretty good pictures in daylight. The quality is disappointing indoors and also when the photo shoot takes place in low light. But frankly we shouldn’t expect more from a handset that is priced Rs 9,990. Its upgrade Canvas HD will come with better display and more powerful processor at around Rs 15000.
