The next-gen iPhone is talk of the blogosphere. It is not still clear if the next version Apple smartphone will be called the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6. Whatever it is, the phone is likely for release mid 2013. Apple may unveil the gadget at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC 2013) in June. Along with the fresh iPhone, Apple may also release next version iOS firmware at the event. The new iPhone is largely expected to become a higher-end phone with more quality specs and features. It has to face off a big line of advanced 1080p FullHD phablets. Here we take a look into the projected features of the new iPhone.
A More Powerful Processor: The current iPhone mounts Apple’s new A6 chipset. With a 1.2GHz dual core processor, PowerVR SGX 543MP3 GPU and 1GB RAM, the handset does well. But, it is honestly not as much powerful as the Android devices with quad core processors. Anyway, let us expect a new A7 chipset onboard the new Apple smartphone. The firm has already used an A6X chipset inside its latest iPad 4.
13MP Camera: All recent handsets sport 13MP rear cameras. Lately, all tech makers announced handsets with 13MP primary cameras. The FullHD devices include Sony Xperia Z, Huawei Ascend D2, ZTE Grand S and more. The new Samsung Galaxy S phone is also to tout a 13MP camera. So, it is high time Apple should introduce its new iPhone with heavy rear camera. Most likely, the new iPhone – iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 – are to mount a 13MP camera, which may be a sensor made by Sony, say some rumors.
128GB Storage: People want massive internal storage in their handsets these days. So far, we have iPhone 5, Galaxy S3 and some other devices with 64GB of internal memory. Being a new development, Samsung has just announced that it has developed 128GB chips for use in smart phones and tablets.
“Samsung’s eMMC Pro cards read data sequentially at up to 140 megabytes per second (MB/s) and write it at up to 50MB/s, which is five times faster than Class-10 rated external memory cards. For random reading and writing, it can process up to 3500/1500 IOPS (inputs and outputs per second, respectively),” writes Samsung Tomorrow.
So, there is better chance that Apple will also introduce 128GB internal memory variant to its next iPhone handset. The current iPhone 5 has 64GB version along with 32GB and 16GB models. At the same time, its major rival Galaxy S3 is also available in those options, but it supports memory expansion in help of microSD slot. The iPhone drops out microSD slot and Apple is against adding it to its handset.
More Thinner & Lightweight: Of course, the new iPhone will be further thinner and lighter. The iPhone 5 is the thinnest version of the line with a 7.6mm body that weighs only at 112 grams. The device is taller at 123.8mm and wider at 58.6mm. Surely, we can expect the new iPhone with far more thinner and lighter body. Apple has to take on a horde of handsets with slight body and amazing innards. So the company will be making the new version of its flagship phone quite thinner and user friendly.
This year, the smartphone market will no longer as it used to be. A host of phone makers have launched a line of high quality handsets with FullHD displays, quad core processors and 13MP cameras. Apple will have to face all these phones aside from its regular rival the Galaxy S. It will be a tough battle out in market since all major companies compete for market dominance. The new iPhone should be quite advanced and fresh one for that reason.
