Chinese firm Huawei seems to be pledged to come up as a leading mobile vendor in global markets. It surfaced two brilliant phablets at CES 2013; a 5-inch Ascend D2 and a massive 6.1-inch Ascend Mate. In weeks after CES, it has unleashed a mid-range Android phone in a Czech Republic event. The device called the Ascend G510 is meant for the European markets. It is actually a variant of the company’s China-only phone the G520, which was also released at CES 2013.
Huawei G510 Overview
It looks a nice midrange phone. Huawei has produced the handset with a 4.5-inch IPS display. It packs a WVGA resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. It may be one of the rare affordable phones in market with a larger display. Under the hood, Huawei has integrated a dual core 1.2GHz Mediatek MT6577 chipset, 512MB RAM and a PowerVR SGX531 graphical processor. Typically, the G510 sports a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. The front camera for video chatting mounts a 0.3MP sensor.
It is great to hear that the new Huawei phone will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is not known whether it will be upgradeable to the new Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Internal memory onboard the phone is 4GB and it is powered by a 1700 mAh battery. The handset measures 134 x 64.7 x 9.9 mm and it weighs at 150 grams. The Chinese firm intends to sell the handset from this spring for nearly 200 euro.
Huawei G510 Vs Huawei G520
The G520 is one of the midrange phones Huawei announced at CES. The device was inundated in the hype about the Ascend D2 and Mate 6.1 at the tech event. Anyway, Huawei has exclusively designed the phone for Chinese market. It has almost the same specs and features of the recent G510. Still, we make a comparison here to find the major differences between the phones.
The G520 is to feature the same 4.5-inch display, but its resolution is not announced by Huawei. Maybe, it will be having the same 854 x 480-pixel display. The processor inside the device is a 1.2GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6589 chipset, which is to be backed by 512MB of RAM. Instead of Jelly Bean, the device is to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. A 5MP rear camera with LED flash, a VGA front camera and microSD slot are other notable attributes of the handset. It is expected to arrive in China for $225 (1,399 yuan), Huawei said.
Huawei in 2013
Huawei is a leading mobile vendor in global market. The firm is known for producing lots of budget machines. The success of Huawei rests in its perpetual efforts to churn out quality handsets. In spite of the budget tag, Huawei makes phones with better quality. The company has created some waves in tech markets with its two new handsets; the D2 and Mate 6.1 at the just concluded tech trade fair in Las Vegas.
The D2 is Huawei’s upgrade to its 2012 Android flagship phone the Ascend D1. But, the firm has developed the device as a 1080p phablet with a set of amazing specs. It is equipped with a 1.5GHz quad core Huawei K32V processor, 2GB of RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and 13MP of rear camera. The handset will fight the new line of FHD phablets in global markets.
The Mate, at the same time, is a Huawei innovation. It has developed the machine as the world’s largest phone with a 6.1-inch display. It now beats Galaxy Note 2 in the size of the phone. Innards of the Mate include a 1.5GHz quad core Huawei K3V2 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8MP autofocus camera, microSD slot and more. The device will more be a phablet/tablet hybrid than a smartphone. It will be difficult to carry around the phone due to its heavy size. However, it is 9.9mm thinner.
