ALIGARH: Dr. Anis Ahmad, institute of Biotechnology Unit, Aligarh Muslim University has been conferred the prestigious 2012 Eli Lilly Outstanding Thesis Award of US for his significant contributions in the field of medicinal chemistry. The award carries US $1000 with Lilly Plaque. The award will be given at the J-NOST Conference to be held at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, Assam during December 15-17, 2012.
Dr. Ahmad is the first AMU faculty to receive this award. He did his Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr. Asad U. Khan, Associate Professor in Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit and published a number of research articles with him in the area of medicinal chemistry and chemoinformatics in journals of international repute. Dr. Ahmad is currently working as CSIR Research Associate in Khan’s Laboratory.
Lily was the first company to produce penicillin on a large scale. I was one of the first pharmaceutical companies to produce human insulin using recombinant DNA and today is world’s largest manufacturer and distributors of Psychiatric medications.
