For Apple lovers it is a fun time. New 2012 Mac Mini and iMac upgrades are expected during iPad Mini release event
Apple is to hold an event in California on Oct. 23. The tech firm has sent in invites to media for the particular event, which is to reportedly bring forth the new iPad Mini tablet. But, there is a talk that Apple is going to release not just an iPad Nano in the event, but may also introduce fresh upgrades to its iMac all-in-one computer and Mac Mini desktop system. Even a 13-inch Retina MacBook is also expected.
Apple iMac Upgrade
As per rumor mills, Apple is to show up its upgraded iMac desktop PC in the event. Apple may start selling the system in a day after the iPad Mini’s release event. It looks that Apple is working to create iMac with advanced specs and features. The current version of iMac came to us in May 2011. Then, the device came up with a line of great features like Thunderbolt port, Intel Core i5 and i7 Sandy Bridge CPUs and more.
As of now, Intel’s new Ivy Bridge processor is to make its entry into iMac. Quite possibly, we can expect the new iMac with many advanced features. Apart from Ivy Bridge processor, the device is to come with a high clarity non-Retina display. Without featuring Retina display, the new iMac can be sold for a low price, said the analysts.
There will be a front camera for FaceTime chats and it will be working on Apple’s new Mountain Lion OS. The machine is to come with the same prices of its predecessor since Apple has dropped the plan to add Retina display. Retina display is pricier and it would add to the price of iMac. But, it looks that the display is regular screen.
“The new iMacs will also feature similar or same pricing as the current iMacs, but the top 27-inch and 21.5-inch models may feature slightly cheaper pricing in some countries. The current iMacs come in at $1199, $1499, $1699, and $1999 U.S. price points,” says 9to5Mac.
Apple Mac Mini Upgrade
Yet another major Apple desktop system Mac Mini is also hoped to get a complete overhaul. The machine may get a new design and innards will be added with Intel’s latest Ivy Bridge chips, plus USB 3.0 ports, says unnamed sources. Apple redesigned Mac Mini two years back and it got internal upgrade last summer. The new Mac Mini is soon to arrive in stores after its anticipated official release at the October 23 event.
“New Mac minis are said to begin shipping immediately after announcement. Apple last redesigned the Mac mini with a unibody aluminum enclosure in 2010, and last updated the computer with faster processors last summer. These current Mac minis are on last-generation chipsets and lack USB 3.0, so we should be seeing those components updated in these new models,” writes 9to5Mac.
Other Apple Devices
Two other major devices that are expected to find light at the Apple event are a 7-inch iPad Mini and a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro. It is almost sure that Apple is about to release these two devices. A small iPad has been in rumors for a while and the company seems to have announced the next week’s media event mainly to release iPad mini. The tablet is said to get a 7.85-inch display, A6 chipset, better RAM and more.
Well, a mini iPad will be defending Apple against its leading rivals like Google, Amazon and Samsung in tablet markets. Devices like Nexus 7, Amazon Kindle Fire and Galaxy Tabs will get real challenge with the smaller iPad. Another major product for the release at the Apple event is a 13-inch MacBook Pro, which may follow the path of its younger brother with a Retina display. It will also feature major hardware upgrades for the new generations.
