Apple iPad Mini and iPad 3 will be as different as chalk and cheese. Here are their different specs and features
Apple is set to unveil the long-rumored iPad Mini at its October 23rd media event in California. Though Apple hasn’t clearly stated as to what it plans to introduce during the media event, it is sure that the company will be showcasing its smaller tablet, iPad Mini. Anyway, here we put the rumored iPad Mini for a comparison with the new mainstream iPad, the third-gen version, which came to light in March 2012.
It is pointless to compare an imaginary device with one that is live. But, what we want to attain through this comparison is a clear look into whatever areas Apple may improve or change its tablet. And, it is also meant to check the Cupertino tech maker’s goal with the new iPad. Here comes our iPad Mini Vs new iPad comparison, stick on.
Display & Design: The current iPad features a 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS TFT display with stunning resolution. The Retina-powered display has a great resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels, which makes it the world’s best tablet when it comes to display clarity and perfection. The iPad Mini is hoped to come out with a 7.85-inch Retina display. It may be the best resolution 7-inch tablet once realized as it is rumored.
The new iPad has the dimensions of 241.2 x 185.7 x 9.4mm and weight of 652 grams. Apple has recently brought out its new iPhone 5 with the thinnest body. Of course, it gives us hope. The new iPad Mini or Nano may also be thinner and lighter than any of its rivals. For sure, it will be far slimmer than the current iPad. As far weight is concerned, it will be super, indeed.
Software & Apps: The current iPad runs iOS 5.1 and it is upgradeable to the new iOS 6. It is not clear, however, that when the new update will hit the Apple tablet. But, we are sure that, if there a new iPad Mini it will be running iOS 6, the most recent update to the firmware, which came to light at the WWDC 2012 and was appeared first on iPhone 5.
As far as apps are concerned, a mini iPad should be rich with lots of apps for eReading and digital data consumption. Apart from a business machine, the more portable iPad Mini will be a gadget for huge data consumption like all other small tablets such as Google Nexus 7, Amazon Kindle Fire and more.
Power & Performance: Beneath the hood, the new iPad touts a dual core 1GHz Cortex-A9 CPU that encloses Apple’s advanced A5X chipset. 1GB of RAM and PowerVR SGX543MP4 quad-core graphical processor add more into its strength. The tab comes in three memory versions; 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.
Of course, if Apple is to launch iPad Nano, it will most probably have the new A6 chipset with a quad core processor. Apple has just kicked off its new chipset on iPhone 5. Further, we can look for better RAM, great graphical processor and large memory options with the device.
Camera: The third-gen iPad offers a 5MP rear camera with autofocus, touch focus and other advanced features. You can shoot video at 1080p using the tab, which mounts a VGA front snapper for Facetime chats. Surely, the new mini iPad will have at least the same camera specs. Or it may have a heavy 8MP rear camera since it is more portable than a 9.7-inch tablet and so users can easily take it in hand for shooting.
Connectivity: The current iPad has both Wi-Fi and 3G versions. There is enough reason to expect for Wi-Fi and 4G versions of the mini iPad. Further, the new device may have a Thunderbolt port, NFC and others.
Battery: Apple iPad usually comes with powerful batteries. The iPad 3 has a Li-Po 11,560mAh battery that offers 10 hours talk time and more than 700 hours standby. Of course, iPad Mini will be far more amazing in the battery department.
