New additions to HTC’s One line of Android handsets; the One X+ and One VX are on way to AT&T in the U.S. Like its original One X and lots of other HTC phones, these two handsets will be exclusively sold by AT&T in the country. HTC’s upcoming Windows Phone 8X is also to hit the carrier. This is the signature phone of the new Windows Phone 8.
Well, the new HTC phones will also join the bandwagon of AT&T’s 4G LTE network. The carrier is the second largest 4G service provider in the U.S. behind Verizon Wireless. Several leading handsets including Samsung Galaxy S3 and Apple iPhone 5 are also there with the carrier. The new HTC flagship Android phones will further add to the products of the service provider.
HTC has just brought out the new One handsets as slight upgrades to its One X quad core handset. The Taiwan tech maker launched One X some months back. After the release of One X, the tech market has changed too much. Moreover, though being a premium phone, One X has been facing some serious setbacks like the lack of better memory. Indeed, One X+ adds those missing features to the handset.
HTC One X+
Besides being a total upgrade, One X+ is a simple incremental update to One X. The device mainly compensates a few major shortcomings of One X. See, the One X+ mounts 64GB of internal memory and it is to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. These two features have been missing seriously on its original version. Plus, it is going to the first HTC phone to hit the U.S. with the company’s Sense 4+ Android interface.
Under the hood, One X+ will sport a 1.7 GHz Tegra 3 NVIDIA quad core processor and it will have a large 64GB version apart from the 32GB edition. The handset will mount a 4.7-inch 720p screen. However, it will keep up the same design cues and form factor of its original. It makes the device looking cute and smart. An 8MP rear camera with AF/LED and a 1.6MP front camera will be other features.
Apart from One X, the new handset will feature a battery-saving fifth core. It is an extra unit of a quad core chipset that operates the phone when it does slight tasks like sending texts and emails. The processing will switch to all cores when the phone has to do big tasks, however. That is, your phone will run on all cores when you watch movies, play games and do other big tasks.
HTC One VX
The One VX is a new budget member to the One line of phones. It is to come with a 4.5-inch qHD LCD-TFT (Super LCD2) screen that is secured against scratches with Corning Gorilla Glass. It will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual core Krait Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8930 CPU, 1GB of RAM, Adreno 305 and 8GB eMMC plus microSD slot for memory expansion.
The One VX has the dimensions of 133.5 x 67.6 x 9.19mm and it will weigh at 124.7 grams. It mounts a 5MP built-in rear-facing camera that will help you take images at 4fps. A VGA front camera will be there for video chatting. It will be powered up by an internal 6.7Wh 1810mAh battery for neat performance.
Price and Availability
HTC has said that both the new handsets will be available for grabs from AT&T in coming months. The company has not, however, exposed the exact release date of the handsets. They will, of course be coming with special offers for 4G LTE connectivity and a good price. Certainly, One X+ and One VX will add two more superb phones to HTC’s collection of Android phones.
