India and England match today may turn out to be a Broad v Yuvraj Singh game later today. Both are part of their respective teams and Yuvraj Singh will try to come up with six sixes against the English bowler. Yuvraj’s six sixes made him in the same league as Pakistan’s Mr Boom, Boom, Shahid Khan Afridi following his historic inning against England.
Meanwhile England have won the toss and asked India to bat first. So they seem to be very confident of their ability to chase against India. They know that the Indian bowling is not in safe hands and so they are confident that their batsmen will be able to chase any total whatsoever India posts.
But Dhoni seems rather desperate to make a point today. I am not sure if he will be able to justify it. He has sent Irfan Pathan along with Gautam Gambhir to open the inning. This borders a foolishness no one expected from Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It’s not Kohli, but Pathan who is opening with Gambhir. Many people will be happy to see Dhoni making changes in batting. But sending a man who batted at number 8 straight to open an inning in the world cup is pure desperation. India making changes when times are close to desperate. In Australia they failed eight times in a row but never changed either the line-up or the order
To be true right now captain Dhoni seems to be literally taking the match as practice match and they have rested their top players including Sehwag, Tendulkar – oops Zaheer, Ashwin and Tiwary. Earlier after winning the toss Stuart Broad tried to justify his decision to bowl first saying that his team batted in the first game, so it is nice to field first. They have made some changes in the team too and have brought in Bresnan for Patel. Broad seems to be on a very different wicket on the issue of taking this match as practice match. He is taking the match very seriously and truly so as this is world cup and not an ordinary series.
