Protesting M. Phil. students to appear in a special PhD admission test in AMU

ALIGARH: The Aligarh Muslim University has decided to provide an opportunity to all such candidates who were wrongly exempted from appearing in the admission test and consequently deprived from admission to PhD courses for the session 2011-2012.

The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah has ordered that a Special Admission Test for such candidates be arranged on October 1, 2012 by the respective Deans of the Faculties / concerned Chairmen of the Departments of Studies. All concerned Deans of the Faculties and Chairmen of the Departments of Studies shall initiate immediate necessary steps to hold the Special Test as per schedule, and also inform the candidates concerned accordingly.

The order further read that all such candidates who qualify Paper-I and Paper-II of the Special Admission Test in accordance with the Regulations for admissions to Ph.D. Programme, applicable for the session 2011-2012, will be considered for admission based on the earlier recommendations of the respective Board of Studies / CASR.

The Vice Chancellor also observed that all such candidates who fail to qualify the special test will have the opportunity to appear in the M.Phil./Ph.D. Admission Test for the session 2012-2013, scheduled to be held from November 4, 2012 onwards. He further observed that any candidate who continued to press with the illegal agitation would be debarred from availing of this opportunity, and his/her case shall be handled as per relevant provision(s) of the AMU Students’ Conduct and Discipline Rules, 1985.
