New iPhone 5 features are talk of the town: But many wonder if Cupertino based Apple will beat Samsung’s Galaxy S3 or need court intervention to tame it
New iPhone 5 is making headlines across the world. On 12th September it is going to be unveiled by Cupertino based tech giant Apple in a gala ceremony. Many have said that Apple will make it the biggest launch event of any smartphone in its history. By the way if Apple is going to make billions of dollars in the coming months from this smartphone that is being speculated to come with 4 inch display, it will be a small price to pay.
Apple seems to be in a hurry to showcase its latest gadget. The Cupertino based tech giant has been under severe pressure from many of its competitors particularly South Korean company Samsung that has thrown a big challenge before it after the sort of success its Galaxy S3 achieved in recent weeks. It is now the highest selling smartphone in United States and its popularity is growing steadily since its introduction in North America.
Though Apple hasn’t said a single word about its forthcoming product set to be unveiled on September 12, there is a high level of anticipation. What technology blogs are calling the iPhone 5 is probably the handset that people expected Apple to launch last year alongside the iPhone 4S. That never happened and the name stuck with everyone even though it’s actually the sixth smartphone in Apple’s lineup, following the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.
KGI analyst Ming Chi Kuo in a report had said that the next generation Apple smartphone will feature a 4.08-inch in-cell IPS toushcreen display with 1,136 x 640 resolution and 500-nit brightness. Other notable features, according to a variety of rumors circling the web, include a metal back casing, a slimmer profile and bezel (edge-to-edge display), 4G LTE support, NFC support and a modified dock connector – 19-pin instead of 30-pin to accommodate the placement of the headphone jack on the lower side of the phone rather than on top (the top image is just a mockup image that doesn’t show that headphone jack’s placement.
For months the rumors had been indicating the imminent launch of the next gen iPhone. Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and leading tech blogs including iMore, AllThingsD, The Verge and many other tech sites have been speculating that Apple will launch its iPhone 5 mid September. It will be an exclusive media event for iPhone 5, some sources say. Some others state that it will be both for iPhone 5 and iPad mini. A small version of iPad has been in rumors for a while. The new iPad is expected to come out sometime late this year. Maybe, Apple will be unveiling it along with the iPhone 5, which is definitely to come about.
There is no doubt that Apple has been very secretive about its product launches. So officially nothing is known about its products. Apple has been keeping up the same design for its iPhone series since the release of its original version in 2007. A large part of iPhone users are apparently fed up with the monotonous design. They are looking for a totally different look and feel for the new iPhone. Thus, iPhone 5 is suggested to be much slimmer, lighter and greater. Of course, the competition in smartphone market is at its peak at the moment. Frontline Android product manufacturers like Samsung and HTC have released breathtaking models recently.
Besides bigger display, the new iPhone is expected to feature powerful innards. It should have a quad core processor for handling huge tasks in gaming and multimedia consumption. Its potential rivals in market Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X sport quad core chips plus great specs. Moreover, iPhone 5 is rumored to get larger display. For Apple fans this is the most promising launch and they want to beat the enemy number 1, Samsung Galaxy S III.
