Real UFO sightings and alien encounter has been talked about regularly by both scientists and laymen recently. But the face-off between human beings and aliens may not be that warm, as many people expect

It is probably unwise for human beings to be telling aliens where we are, Nobel laureate Brian P. Schmidt has said.

“I think it is probably not the smartest thing to tell the aliens where we are, as any encounter with aliens may not be a happy one,” Xinhua quoted Schmidt as saying at the 28th General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union currently going on the Chinese capital.

Schmidt shared the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics with Saul Perlmutter and Adam Riess for providing evidence that the expansion of the universe is accelerating.

“Aliens may not be something that we need to worry about. It will be so far away and it takes so long to travel from point A to point B in the universe that it won’t be a problem. But it will happen when it happens,” said Schmidt.

Before their discovery, it was commonly thought that the expansion of the universe was slowing down. However, their findings showed that dark energy pushes every galaxy apart and the universe will continue to expand at a quicker pace and eventually fade away.

According to Schmidt’s research, it will be harder to reach another planet in an accelerating universe, meaning it is less likely to meet higher intelligent extraterrestrial life in the future.

“The future of the universe seems to be dark. Things are getting faster and faster. In terms of looking for aliens, it’s gonna be quite a challenge. It may never happen. Things like us are probably very rare in the universe,” he said.

In 2010, Stephen Hawking, one of the world’s most famous theoretical physicists, said humans should be extremely cautious of extraterrestrial life and attempts to make contact with alien races is “a little too risky”.

Schmidt said he agrees with Hawking. He said humans have more things to worry about.

“The reality is that the sun is going to give out on us in about four billion years, and is becoming very hot. So in the future about 800 million years from now we need to figure out how to deal with that first.”

    Well said Mr.Schmidt. Human being have more problems than worrying about Aliens. I would say why spend billons of $’s in wasted Mar’s mission on exploring Universe and other planet. We can rather study that from earth. Bigger problem is other developing countries like India wants to follow the big leaders in Space mission. India has a bigger problem to deal with their corrupted politians and misguided leaders. All the money which is spend on space missions can be used to have a better and safer planet.
    Why can’t the money be spent on discovering alternative fuels, more green energy and have safer and better planet for all human beings.

    how many humans have walked the moon’s surface ? how many humans have been to mars ? yet we have to put up with award seekers making concrete assumptions about things we know so little about.

    This article is the saddest piece of crap I have read in years. We have been visited by, and owe our existence to, alien being since the dawn of time. Civilizations that are millions of years ahead of our have mastered traversing the cosmos eons ago. Whoever wrote this horribly narrow-minded story is obviously afraid of facing the reality of the origin of the human race, and would much rather put his faith in divine intervention which is not only archaic, but completely unscientific. Face the truth…it doesn’t hurt, I promise!

    Mr Schmidt seems to be one of those people of great learning, but little knowledge that the world has so many of now.     There is truth to your article..Most people are taken against their will. Abduction by force shows how insensitive these beings are. BUT in many cases they try to misplace or hide memories of such. Is it to cover their tracks or is it to try to prevent trauma to the victim? There is no one answer.

    The people that do step forth often are faced with ridicule. No one likes to be laughed at. It does take a lot for anyone abducted to step up and share. I commend all that have..and will.

    I have seen crafts in my life..some so close I could throw a stone and hit them if I wanted..some even closer.
    I know the greys are here..and have been through our entire existence here.. I know by being taken by the greys.

    Most people will not even talk about crafts that they have seen..and even less with abduction by ET.

    It is one of the largest and most damaging secrets in the history of mankind on Earth.

    Lets go a bit further…People should focus on why we are being lied to about this…NWO and the elite are following agendas..and even the blind can see such..as it is happening in front of us. Perhaps it is only a perspective that can be seen by the ones who are aware of what is happening on Earth.

    the ETI prescence here is a medical one, it fully understands disease, until this task is complete (soon) it will remain hidden, after this a selection of humans will be offered a oppurtunity to travel to the next earth like world with the same irregularity, there will not, at this time be a “formal” global approach, it will leave, as discreetly as it arrived. The Cosmos, like Earth, has its problems.

    I don’t agree with Mr. Schmidt’s assessment. First of all, I believe extraterrestrial’s already know where we are and have known for thousands of years. I would also go so far to say that our own genetic makeup is already extraterrestrial in origin. We’re not some unknown species existing in the corner of the universe that has yet to be “discovered” by extraterrestrials. There are many individuals in government that know for a fact they exist since the Roswell crash in 1947, but have supressed the information. It’s not difficult for the government to have supressed this since so many individuals scoff at the mere suggestion of UFO’s or extraterrestrials that they never challenge them about what they know.

    The extraterrestrials have been largely keeping a hands-off policy to allow us to grow, spiritually, to a point where contact with their civilizations openly and publicly will make a lot more sense than it does now. Unforunately, the movies and the media have gone to great lengths to redicule this subject and portray it in a negative light. It would not serve either on of our interests if they were to visit us during a time when we still harbor a lot of fear based belief systems and definitions about who they are and what they represent. All that would serve to do is magnify that fear which wouldn’t serve either interests.

    It has been predicted the reality of their existance will finally be known within the next five years and it will no longer be a quesion as to whether the exist or not. Richard Dolan has written a well thought out book called “A.D. After Disclosure”, which details many plausible scenarios on how this could unfold.

    It believe it to be a very nieve for the scientific community to continually state that there is no way for extraterrestrial to get here from there. The universe is not so badly designed. It’s no different than the belief the world was flat, or that the Earth was the center of the universe. Scientists will soon discover that travelling to another solar system isn’t really as difficult as you might think. Once the existance of extraterrestrials is finally a known fact, scientists will have to take a good long hard look at themselves and re-evaulate all of their assumptions. I also don’t believe SETI’s effort to contact extraterrestrials through radio is a sound approach. It’s unlikely they’re using a technology that takes light years to travel to the next star system and have long since migrated to something else entirely.

    Brian P. Schmidt’s comments may, on their surface, appear rather pessimistic. But actually the man is incredibly optimistic! He apparently thinks that the human race will still exist 800 million years from now. Now that’s crazy pie in the sky.

    Therefore, their intentions towards us Earthlings depends on which type of Alien(s) you encounter.
