iPad Mini release date seems to be approaching fast as searches for it skyrocket. Besides iPad mini, rumors about new iPhone versions touch a new high
iPhone 5 and iPad mini rumors are touching a new high. Reports suggest that internet search for the two products has skyrocketed over the last several months. Passionate Apple fans have been looking for fresh updates on the products. Data from Experian Hitwise has revealed the new web search trends about the new iPhone and iPad mini. Web search for “iPhone 5” has been on the rise for the entire year; but, it has reached a new peak during the second week of August 2012. The change is a massive 128 percent over the searches in last several weeks.
Besides “iPhone 5,” there is a sort of frenzy toward the “leaked iPhone 5” following the spread of rumored images of the handset on web. The “iPad mini” has also received lots of web searches. The small version of the iPad tablet is speculated to realize along with the new iPhone in September. However, Apple has not said a single word about the handset and the tablet. That doesn’t mean that the devices may not realize. The Cupertino tech maker used to keep high secrecy about its products until a few weeks ahead of their releases.
“Search variations around “iPhone 5” have been steadily increasing since the beginning of 2012 and peaked the week of August 18 when searches grew 128 percent from the previous week as speculation around the next generation iPhone reached a fever pitch” says the Experian Hitwise. The analysis further notes that a year-over-year trend in iPhone searches on web is on a drastic rise. The count of web search for “iPhone 5” in the period of August and October in 2012 is larger than the searches for “iPhone 4S” in the same period in 2011.
“A year-over-year trend shows that “iPhone 5” searches were more popular than searches on “iPhone 4” between August and early October 2011, up until the iPhone 4s announcement when the latter term became more widely searched” the analysis notes. Indeed, the change in web search count points to the raising popularity of iPhone in market. Even after the Android and Windows Phone outbreak, iPhone still continues it domination over the smartphone market.
The Experian Hitwise analysis has further published the list of websites that received most traffic from “iPhone 5” searches over the second week of August 2012. The list is topped by Yahoo! News and Yahoo! The sites respectively had a difference of 161.51 percent and 772.09 percent in traffic from 11th August to 18th August. “Among the top websites receiving traffic from “iPhone 5” searches the week ending August 18 were Yahoo! News and Yahoo!, both of which experienced significant increases in search clicks from these terms week over week (+162% and 772%, respectively),” says the analysis.
Among the top five list, there is iPhone5Release.org, a site exclusively for news on the next iPhone. As well, there is one retailer, Walmart, which received 222 percent increase in search for “iPhone 5” over the week. Interestingly, around 90 percent of traffic to the site is from paid search. That means consumers are quite serious even in searching for updates on the new version of iPhone, which has not yet received an official release date form Apple.
As noted above, there is a huge interest from web users toward the speculated iPad mini tablet. The new version of iPad is supposed to come to light along with the new iPhone sometime in September. “Searches on the “iPad mini” increased dramatically the week of April 21, 2012 when a Chinese website reported on an expected third quarter release of the mini Apple tablet” says Experian Hitwise.
Walmart has received high share of traffic (79%) for the smaller iPad as well. It is when there is no confirmed word from Apple on the potential tablet. The machine, however, is rumored to come with a 7.85-inch display and better specs so as to compete with Amazon Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7.
