Users can now share their photos with friends on the famous Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service with the new update. It is quite easier to share images with your Skype contacts. Users can just take images and send them to their friends on Skype. The new update of the app has realized this feature for both iPhone and iPad users.

“The photo-sharing feature allows users to directly share photos taken with the iPhone or iPad camera and send them to contacts through the Skype application,” writes eWEEK’s Nathan Eddy. The feature, as per Eddy, will help a customer in many ways. First of all, it could help you keep data overage bills low; because there is no limit for the size of file a user can send to his/her friend. As well, it negates the need to rely on pricier multimedia messaging service (MMS).

“As you’ll be able to keep Skype open, you can respond to or send IMs [instant messages] to friends and colleagues all day long,” says Skype’s product marketing manager Jonathan Watson. “In addition, we’ve tried to make the app start and contact list load even faster, so you can do all the things you love to do with Skype more quickly.”

Skype app update for iOS
Skype is a key VoIP service provider in the world. A large number of people depend on the app to make contacts with their friends. The app has been providing text and voice content sharing options for a while. Now it has received the image sharing option as well. Skype earlier introduced the same feature for Android. Apart from the photo sharing feature, the update for iOS is made with more battery efficiency.

The new Skype update for iPad will run on all three versions of the famous tablet PC. Meanwhile, Skype for iPhone update supports iPhone 3G, 3GS, iPhone 4 and 4S. The software will also support the second and the third generations of iPod Touch, Skype says. But, iOS 4.3 or its higher version is required on all devices for the update.

The latest Skype update for iOS comes with many UI changes as well. According to Neowin, the app has received a modern design with easy-to-use and stable interface. Users can easily access the site and utilize the services for instant access to multiple features. This is yet another thing that makes Skype a popular app for users to communicate with.

“Skype for the Modern UI handles all tasks quite well, with the chat interface being clean and simple to navigate, which is a nice departure from the previous UI that was not universally loved,” says the Neowin review. The reviewer has further noted that during his testing of the app, it did no break down a single time.

Skype on Windows 8
There is a talk that Microsoft is all set to integrate a new Skype app on its upcoming Windows 8. The Redmond software giant took over Skype for an enormous $8.5 billion in May 2011. Though launching updates for both Android and iOS, Microsoft plans to integrate the service into its Modern UI for Windows 8. Microsoft’s Windows 8 for tablet and PCs is set to come out on October 26. Quite possibly, the software will have a rich version of Skype to let users enjoy the feature smartly. They can also send images and videos on Windows 8 devices apart from sending mere text and voice, analysts think.
