It is going to be the highest sold smartphone in the market. iPhone 5 specs still a matter of speculation as its release date nears
No smartphone has been awaited as impatiently as this one and the wait is expected to last at least more than a month or two. iPhone 5 is a dream smartphone for gadget lovers. Apple fans are suggesting that it is going to be the best thing to happen to the smartphone market so far.
For months we have been getting one leak or the other about the Apple’s forthcoming baby. There are some features that the tech world is sure to see in the next generation Apple phone when it is introduced in the market in September or October later this year.
One important feature that everyone is talking about the new iPhone is its bigger size. Instead of the usual 3.5 inch screen of the existing and old versions of iPhone, the next generation Apple phone will come with at least 4 inch display. To be true after being accustomed to use bigger smartphones that have become the norm these days, the 3.5 inch display looks minuscule. I am sure even a 4 inch display will still be looking very small compared to Samsung’s Galaxy S3, S2 and many other smartphones launched by LG, Motorola and HTC.
The speculation about the size of iPhone 5 is not just limited to Apple blogs, even top news sources including Reuters, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post and others too have been writing regularly as to how it will come with bigger and better display. On an Apple fan site images of an alleged iPhone 5 front panel appeared on the photo-sharing website Photobucket, where it was discovered by Apple.pro and other news sites. The images show panels with a longer frame where the screen would be, suggesting the next iPhone’s display will be larger than previous models’ displays. The frame’s front-facing FaceTime camera is shown in the center of the device, just above the earpiece.
By the way this is not the first time when iPhone 5 images have hit the newspapers and blogs. A few weeks ago, leading Apple fansite 9to5Mac came up with almost similar photos which indicated longer frame and a metallic back. Around the same time, the Wall Street Journal also reported on a possible iPhone with a 4-inch display, citing unnamed sources “familiar with the matter.” So this all certainly adds up to a sure bigger smartphone from Apple.
There were reports suggesting that the next generation iPhone would have a “uni-body” chassis that featured a two-tone all-metal design. But the recent model is likely to have an inlayed glass piece between the backplate’s top and bottom edges instead of an aluminum surface. This will also be different from the glass-sandwich design of iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S with tough Gorilla Glass covering the front and back of the device. The iPhone 5 would have a backplate only “partially covered” by gorilla glass, apparently to adjust a bigger 4-inch Retina display with 16:9 aspect ratio. Older generation iphones have 3.5-inch screen with 3:2 aspect ratio.
One small but significant different between the forthcoming and existing versions being noticed on the rear of iPhone 5 is the absence of a small hole between the camera assembly and LED flash. Some had labeled it to be a rear-facing microphone for video recording. But sources also claim the hole might very well be there, only invisible to the “naked eye”. Another change said to be introduced is a better battery life. IPhone users have been dogged with the problem of a comparatively lousy battery life as compared to other smartphones, but this problem might be resolved with iPhone 5. If Apple is able to improve the battery life of its forthcoming smartphone, it may definitely be able to attract more customers to it than previously anticipated.
