Samsung’s Galaxy S3 handset is shortly to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. Various sources have reported that the latest version of the Galaxy S series will get the update ahead of the cold winter season of the year. Samsung, however, has not yet commented on the rumor. Samsung gossip site Sam Mobile reports that it has been told by some ‘inside sources’ that S3 will get the new Android version sooner. The site further says that the update will be there by the end of Q3 or the beginning of Q4.
It means that we may get the software of the Galaxy S3 updated to the most polished version of Android by late September or early October. The site further claims that the Korean tech maker’s engineers are presently busy testing the firmware. The new version of Android is largely expected to bring several interesting features and boost the entire performance of the handset. The device has already received huge response from global markets. It is so far sold in 10 million units since its official release by the end of May 2012.
There is also a talk that Samsung will roll out the Jelly Bean-powered Galaxy S III along with its rumored second edition Galaxy Note. According to TechRadar, an anonymous source has reported that Jelly Bean update on Galaxy S3 will realize alongside the Galaxy Note 2. The site refers to a source to report that there will be a “Samsung press conference” sometime in September for releasing both the devices. Samsung confirmed Android 4.1 update for its recent devices back in July; but, the company has not yet popped up about the exact release date of the software update.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update
Google has just debuted its next generation Android firmware on its own Nexus 7 tablet, built by Asus. Quite naturally, the new version of the software comes with lots of incredible features and updates. The web search giant demoed Jelly Bean at the Google I/O conference in June 2012. The firmware is based on Linux kernel 3.1.10 and it is an incremental update to its current version the Ice Cream Sandwich.
Some exciting features like Project Butter for performance boosting are notable with the new firmware. Project Butter utilizes triple buffering, touch anticipation, extended VSync timing and more. Other major features that the Jelly Bean update will bring to the S3 are enhanced accessibility, bi-directional text and other language support, user-installable keyboard maps, expandable notifications and more.

Android fans are excitedly looking for the firmware update since it can add much strength to the handsets. Anyway, Samsung has not yet officially announced the release date of the firmware update for Galaxy S3 or S2.
