Aly Raisman has proved once again hat failure can be reason enough to strive hard and succeed. She looked impressive throughout the Olympics, but couldn’t get a medal, not even silver or bronze medal. Even when she tied for the third spot with a Russian gymnast, Russian was handed the bronze medal and she was denied it.
But as hard work pays, so she continued working hard and improving the level of perfection of her performance. And thus came the reward, when she not only won a gold medal in floor exercise, but also won another medal –bronze –in another category.
The American girl with her Jewish root was the captain of the US women gymnastics team, and many people were wondering why she was made the captain in the first place. They said ‘better’ player like Jordyn Wieber should have been made the captain and even if not she then Gabby Douglas would have been a better captain.
But the Olympic medals have ensured that the 18-year old girl is not only able to justify her place in the team, but also justify her captainship of one of the best gymnastics teams in the US history.
On the other hand Gabby Douglas, the all-around gold winner didn’t get any gold in both the events. After horrific performance Tuesday she said, “I’m definitely not going to lie. It was definitely hard to regain your focus…You’re like, ‘Yes, I’m the Olympic champion. I’m a world champion.’ It’s definitely kind of hard to turn the chapter for event finals…Olympic all-around champion is going to be attached to my name…Life is going to be crazy for me. Even though we had a very bad ending of the chapter, the beginning was very strong”. That’s true. She is going to earn at least $2-3million a year in endorsements due to the fact that she is an all around champion.
Meanwhile Jordyn Wieber who performed very poorly throughout the tournament is facing the ire of US gymnastics fans. They say she failed to justify her place in the US team due to her poor performance. A reader says, “Truth is Weiber was supposed to be the chosen one and she did not perform. She received all the media attention prior to the Olympics even though Gabby posted the highest scores prior to the Olympics and earned her place legitimately. The media has tried to “punish” her for upstaging Weiber by placing her mother’s personal business in the streets. The girl is 16 years old for Pete’s sake. She is not responsible for her parents. She won the gold fair and square. Deal with it”.
