Finally it seems that much awaited Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 release date has arrived. It is available on Office Depot for a price of $499, informs Abdul Vahid V of NVONews.Com
Office Depot has listed Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 on its web store. It surprised analysts that the retailer showed up the tablet as ‘in-stock’ for a while, even though it is not officially available for sale. As of now, the retailer has changed the availability status to ‘out of stock;’ however, the Infinity TF700 is among its product list. Asus has said nothing about the instant availability of the tablet. As per rumors, it is expected to appear for sales on July 16. Office Depot’s listing clearly indicates its possible availability on the same date.
Office Depot shows the Pad Infinity tablet for a price of $499.99. It is indeed a quite attractive price tag for a quad core-powered Android tablet. Asus is selling the original Transformer Prime for the same price. Maybe, if the new Asus tablet comes for the same price – as we can read on Office Depot – the Prime’s price will naturally fall. But, the Taiwan tech maker has not officially announced the price of the gadget. As we can read from rumors, certainly the Infinity TF700 will be up for grabs quite soon.
Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700
Asus has added the Pad Infinity TF700 as a new member to its line of top-notch Android tablets. The Infinity is simply a slightly beefed-up version of its 10.1-inch Prime tablet. What makes the Infinity different from the Prime is its superbly high-resolution screen that packs Apple’s Retina Display-challenging 1920 x 1200 pixels. Similar to the Prime, the TF700 highlights an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad core CPU, an 8-megapixel rear camera and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, Asus has made some tweaks to the camera, firmware, docks and some other aspects of the tablet.
What is special?
Display screen: As we noted above, a high resolution display is the thing that distinguishes the Infinity TF700 from other Android tablets. Indeed, the tablet’s high clarity 1920 x 1200 HD (224ppi) display will be the major selling point. It has an impressive viewing angle of 180 degrees and the screen is protected against scratches by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2. The tablet will be the best for enjoying sharp text, attractive images and high clarity videos.
Tech specs: Needless to mention, the Pad Infinity TF700 is highly rich product with great innards. The tablet runs on a new Tegra 3 T33 processor that clocks at 1.6GHz and 1GB of RAM. For storage, the Infinity touts 32GB/64GB of built-in memory and it is expandable up to 32GB thanks to the integrated 32GB microSD card slot. The tablet further features MicroHDMI out, Bluetooth 3.0, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera for HD chatting and a powerful 25Wh battery.
Form factor: Asus is a famous manufacturer of thin and lightweight products. The Infinity TF700 comes with the dimensions of 10.4 x 7.1 x 0.33 inches and it weighs at 1.3 pounds. With this, the Pad Infinity absolutely matches with its predecessor, the Pad Transformer Prime. Well, this form factor puts the tablet in a product category that comprises the quad-core Toshiba Excite 10. The device is slightly bigger, but lighter than Apple’s new iPad 3, which measures at 9.5 x 7.31 x 0.37 inches and weighs at 1.44 pounds.
Expected price and availability
The Infinity TF700 is set to have the same price of its predecessor. As per sources, Asus may price 32GB version of the tablet at $499 and the 64GB version at $599. But, what Office Depot has shown as the price of the gadget is $499; maybe, it will be a 32GB variant. For the same price tag, what you will get is a completely revamped 10.1-inch Transformer tablet with a revamped display, firmware, camera and other features. The device is expected to appear for sales on July 16. But, the retailer listed the device even before the anticipated release date. Asus may be starting the device’s shipping on July 16, however.
