Besides Steve Jobs’ legacy as its USP, Apple may project 4 inch display, A6 processor as its best features. iPhone 5 rumors will not end till it is actually introduced in the market.
At a time when the tech world is celebrating the completion of five years of iPhone launch, there is speculation as to whether the Cupertino based company will come with a bigger display or not. For five long years, Apple has continued with its 3.5 inch display in its highest selling product iPhone. To be true, when it was launched, it was the best display available in the market. Now even a devoted Apple fan wouldn’t claim that it is the best screen in smartphone market.
HTC, Samsung, Motorola, or even almost unknown Chinese tech companies including Huawei and ZTE are coming up with smartphones with better display than Apple’s iPhone. 4.5 inch display has become a common phenomenon and smaller smartphones are laughed at. At the time when Apple introduced its smartphone in the year 2007, there were not many media options available, but the world has completely changed during these five years and given the media options available and the internet speed at our disposal, iPhone size has become certainly a disadvantage to its users.
But thankfully Apple seems to be changing now. Every report whether it is coming from Bloomberg or Wall Street Journal suggests that Apple will come with at least 4 inch display in the forthcoming version of iPhone.
Reports about the sixth generation iPhone –being called iPhone 5 –may come with some great technologies put inside the 4 inch body. Last month Tactus Technology showcased its solution to the touchscreen keyboard at SID Display Week 2012, showing off a prototype of an interface with appearing and disappearing “keys” that rise out of the touchscreen to provide a guide for your fingers and feedback to confirm the selection. Reports suggest that Apple is in the process of adopting this technology in its smartphone.
Besides display, another aspect that is attracting speculations is about what sort of processor Apple will fit inside the iPhone 5 body. A report in 9to5Mac says that the forthcoming Apple iPhone will probably come with an A6 Chip. After the iPad was released with the A5X quad-core processor touted as twice as fast and four times better performing than the Tegra 3 chip. An A6 chip would double the power of the A5 chip that is currently used in the iPhone 4s and the iPad 2.
A report in MarketWatch suggests that Apple will try to project iPhone 5 as the last smartphone from Steve Jobs legacy. The report says, “Making the iPhone 5 “Steve’s last phone” will surely create a huge seller, despite the fact that the screen will be too small for the changing market”. But I am apprehensive that people will fall for it without major changes only because it was designed by Steve Jobs.
