Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen UFC 148 results are out and now everyone is showering praise on Silva for being the best UFC fighter. Here are UFC 148 fight video highlights
Chael Sonnen made repeated claims that he will end the long dominance of Anderson Silva in the MMA. Many believed him, given his past record of badly troubling the Brazilian fighter who has dominated UFC for years. To be true, there is not a man out there who can be sure of beating him.
The importance of the fight can be gauged from the fact that the organizers were sure that the fight first expected to be held in Rio –with 80000 seating capacity –will be full to the capacity. But owning to some presumed threat the fight was shifted to Las Vegas.
Even till the time fight began and even till the end of the first round, Chael Sonnen fans were more than sure that their star fighter will win it hands down. When he can trouble the master fighter in the first fight around two years ago, he can beat him now with the sort of exposure he got. But alas, this exposure works both ways, and who can be a better learner in UFC, than the master fighter himself. This seems that Anderson Silva had learned his lessons rather well and he ensured that he will not repeat the same mistakes that he made in their UFC 117 fight.
To be true, to this date, Chael Sonnen has been the most successful UFC fighter that has faced Silva. In the first match, he talked a bunch of trash, and in a scary way he came out and lived up to it, minus the win. Even Dana White expected that there was a good chance. The UFC boss had seen as to how Sonnen completely out-struck and out-wrestled Silva for the better part of five rounds, and his aggressive wrestling style nullified any hope of effective offense on the part of Silva.
Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva first met at UFC 117 in August 2010, where Silva pulled out a last-minute submission victory after Sonnen bullied him around for the better part of four-and-a-half rounds. Sonnen quickly fell off the radar due to a drug-test-related suspension following the fight, further complications in regaining his license once his suspension was up, and non-related legal troubles due to Federal money laundering charges. This fight was a great chance for him to actually get some positive, but he failed.
In the first round, many thought that it was the same olf Sonnen who had troubled Silva in the last match. He was working hard and made several takedown efforts against Silva and succeeded in some. But to beat Silva you need lots of power in your kicks feet and hands, that he didn’t seem to possess at least today. The second round completely went to Silva who beat him in a TKO. Sonnen seems to have lost his chance badly and Silva has proved beyond doubt that he is the undisputed king of UFC, at least for now.
