Spain vs Italy is certainly going to be the toughest match of Euro 2012. Both teams are among the best in the soccer world right now and even a FIFA soccer world Cup final was also possible between the two sides. To be true the Euro 2012 was the contest of the best soccer teams with the exception of other two teams Brazil and Argentina who are also counted among the best in the world soccer.
Spain have come out with outstanding game throughout the tournament. They have the class and the technique to beat any team on any given day if they display their natural game. Many people have criticized the Spanish team for the slow and controlled game they have played throughout the tournament. But no one can deny the fact that they have dominated their opponents head and shoulder throughout. And the thing that counts most in a game is a win and they have been winning.
Italy, on the other hand, was a tad slower in the beginning of the tournament, but every single game not just rejuvenated it, but also brought more and more perfection and aggression in it. They are known for defensive game. If they play their original style, then both Spain and Italy will be playing slow and controlled game. But thankfully Italy have given up their defensive game –and for good –throughout the tournament with rich reward for their team.
Italy, the four-time World Cup champions have developed into a menacing side and if they come with the same game they displayed during Euro 2012, Italy certainly have a chance against Spain.
On the other hand, the reigning FIFA soccer world cup champions and holders of Euro 2008 trophy, Spain are in ideal condition to win the tourney. Their team has come to the final of a major tournament for the third straight time. No other team can beat them right now according to recent statistics.
But Italy has several aces up their sleeves against Italy. Mario Balotelli is one of them who demolished Germany singlehandedly with his two fascinating goals. Italy coach Cesare Prandelli says they have the capacity to do another Germany against Spain as well. He also says that neither he nor his team fears Spain. “We mustn’t fear them…We are here on merit and we will give it everything…I’m hoping to prepare the team well even if we only have one day to do it…Just as we did with Germany, we need to try to find their weak points and work on them”.
Italian fans are ecstatic with their team in the final. A fan has this to say, “Spain should be scared. The Italians have played much better than the Spanish have throughout the knockout stage. I don’t know why Spain would be worried about penalties, since they have an almost perfect record in shoot-outs. In fact, they beat the Azzurri on penalties in the last Euro (Italy being the only team to hold Spain to a scoreless draw for 120 minutes)”. Bt right now Spain is favorite to win the match and lift the trophy like they did four years ago. Italy played great against Germany, but repeating the same performance against perfectionist Spain will be a tough task indeed.
