Spain vs Italy Euro 2012 final predictions

Who will win the final between Spain and Italy? Neither punters are sure, nor are the soccer experts who have put in decades covering the sport. On paper Spain seems an overwhelming favorite, but after witnessing the Italy vs Germany semifinals there is fear deep down, that even for Spain beating Italy is going to be tough, very tough indeed.

Italians played such a wonderful game during their semifinal match against Germany. A team that looked set to tame Italy was completely overpowered from beginning till the end. To be true, Italy built the pressure from the word go and boxed top Germany players from the beginning. Every time they started any attack, the whole team seemed to be moving together. On the other hand, the German team seemed to be caught unprepared for such a big match. Their lack of experience in such circumstances also damaged their chances.

But the biggest difference between Italy and Germany during their semifinal match was Mario Balotelli. Both the goals came from him and on both the occasion he showed that despite being very young –all of 21 years of age –he had the nerves of steel. He never erred in doing what he was expected to do on such occasion. His header was mesmerizing as was his next goal that completely turned the tide in Italy’s favor.  After the historic win, a beaming Balotelli said, “This is the greatest night of my life, but I hope Sunday is going to be even better…In the opening matches I had a lot of chances, and I wasn’t able to finish them. But in football you also need luck.”

Meanwile soccer fans are sure of a great match between Spain and Italy tomorrow. A soccer fan says, “Italy vs Spain is going to be an amazing final! These are the two best footballing nations over the last six years if you look at International and Club achievements. Italy and Spain combined since 2006 have won the last two World Cups (2006,2010), the last two Euros (2008,2012), and 5 out of the last 7 Champions League titles (Barca 3, Inter 1, Milan 1) and that is without teams like Real or Juve living up to expectations in Europe! Plus both will now be representing UEFA at the Confederations Cup in 2013. I think Spain and Italy will even be tough to beat in Brazil”.

Meanwhile Spanish team members are apprehensive about the style of Italian team. They are not taking them lightly anymore. Spain’s defender Sergio Ramos says, “it would be a lie to say I’m not worried about them, but we are not obsessing over Italy…They are where they are today because of the way they’ve played…They really took the game to us, led by two strikers as they looked to hit us on the counter. We can’t start worrying about them, we have to stay calm and stick to our philosophy of play.” Balotelli who scored goals in 20th and 36th minutes of the game against Germany is adding to Spain’s anxieties before the final game.
