Euro 2012 final is set for 2nd July. Spain versus Italy match is going to be between two soccer superpowers. Here are all details about date, time and results chart of the tournament
When Spain faced its Iberian neighbour Portugal in the semi final it was Cristiano Ronaldo who was considered the greatest threat for Spain. Now, in the final Spain faces the similar situation when its Mediterranean rival Italy meet them, other star Mario Balotelli is being considered as the biggest challenge for them.
Though Spain survived Ronaldo’s all out effort it would be great fun to see how they contain Balotelli on Sunday at Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine. In fact Balotelli seems to be standing in the way of Spain’s great chance to become the only team to retain its European title after winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
At the moment reigning champion Spain seemed to quite wary of Balotelli and sound a bit scared of him. Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas says that to score like that in the semi final that too against Germany is no mean affair. He says that the Manchester City striker Balotelli is a great player and he proved on Thursday.
Interestingly Balotelli was not much in the discussion before the Ireland game. He scored the only goal in that game with his back towards the goalpost directly taking the pass on his boot and swiftly putting it into the net in a flash. Though Spaniards are preparing hard to control Balotelli but he had not a very good game against them missing a glorious chance to score when he was alone against Spain.
Spanish defender Sergio Ramos does not pick out Balotelli but he says that it would be lied if he says that he is not worried about them. At the same time he insists that the Spaniards are not overwhelmed by the Azzurri.
The two teams are meeting each other in this tournament for the second time. They played the leagues stage match, which ended in a 1-1 draw. After that match Spain has succeeded in not allowing any team to score against it.
Ramos recalled that the Italians led by two strikers had given them a tough time in the last match. He says that Spain would pay particular attention to Balotelli apart from Antonio Cassano and Andrea Pirlo.
