Though details are still sketchy, it is going to be a great Android tablet. Here we bring to you Google Nexus tablet release date, price and specs
The long-rumored Google Nexus tablet is likely to be released at its developer conference this week. Some sources have reported that the web search giant will soon bring its Android tablet into stores. Well, Microsoft has just introduced its Surface tablets and Apple has recently brought us the new iPad. It is indeed the best time for Google to launch its much-talked about Google tablet. The machine is apparently under development at the Taiwan computer maker ASUSTeK. Google hasn’t said anything about the possible release of the tablet. But, here are some expected features for the Google Nexus tablet, anyway.
A 7-incher: Most rumor mills think that Google tablet will be a 7-incher machine. With a small tablet, Google might aim both Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle Fire, two leading tablets. Indeed, a 7-inch tablet is a great option especially when there is a passion towards small tablets and there are many top-notch Android tablets with large displays.
New Android features: Many think that Google tablet will introduce many new Android features. Apart from all current Android tablets, Google tablet will have some notable difference. Meanwhile, some rumors have even gone on to think that the Nexus tablet will come with the next Android version, possibly Jelly Bean (Android 5.0). Like its Nexus phones, Google’s own Android tablet may introduce a new firmware. However, it is too early for the next version of Android. But, if the Nexus tablet has Jelly Bean it may hit stores late this year only.
Google Nexus 7: The rumored Google Android tablet may be branded as Google Nexus 7, suggest some sources. The ‘Nexus’ stands for Google’s brand name for its exclusive Android smartphone line, which include Nexus One, Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus. The ‘7’ simply stands for the size of the device. Well, it further confirms that the Google Android tablet will be a 7-inch tablet and so a Kindle Fire killer rather than anything.
It will be priced lower: As per many rumors, the Nexus 7 will be priced as low as $199, i.e. the same price of Amazon Kindle Fire. It is almost certain that Google will keep the price of tablet lower in order to win over the competitors. As per IHS iSuppli estimate, with a retail price of $199, Google could be spending $130 to $210 for manufacturing each tablet.
“Anything above the $199 price for materials and manufacturing costs would result in a loss for Google. Many analysts say Google might be willing to take a loss to gain market share against other low-cost tablets such as the 7-in. Kindle Fire, which sells for $199,” comments Computer World.
Voice assistant: there are speculations that Google may launch a Siri-like voice assistant app on its Nexus tablet and other handsets. It is a time people demand voice-based apps and services. Indeed, being a leader in web search and other technologies, there is a better chance that Google will add an advanced voice assistant app to its next Android version.
Project Glass: Microsoft has hinted that its Surface tablets and Xbox 720 gaming console will soon get specialized heads-up displays (HUD), which is under work. We can expect that Google may introduce HUD glasses with its Nexus 7 tablets and other device. Google’s HUD glass is under development in name of Project Glass. It will give a more immersive multimedia experience for users.
Sum-up
Google has declined to comment on reporters’ query about the possible Nexus 7 tablet PC. However, reports are aplenty that the firm is working toward developing its own tablet and it will be unveiled in its upcoming developer conference.
