Microsoft Surface tablets to challenge Apple iPad 3 despite no retina display

Many people have said that it will be a flop. But notwithstanding the critics’ biased views, Microsoft Surface tablets will give tough fight to Apple iPad 3 despite no retina display

Microsoft Surface is making waves. There are two types of reactions following the showcasing of the Surface tablets. Some people have been showering praise on the latest Microsoft product, while there are others who are criticizing it saying that it is doomed to fail.

But to be true, Microsoft is rather late in entering the tablet market. Apple is entrenched in the market and with its huge propaganda machine that comes with the sort of money that it has at its disposal, it is rather impossible to beat Apple tablets, iPad.

But notwithstanding the delay in the launch of Microsoft tablet, the Surface tablets come well equipped to equal, if not beat all other tablets available in the market. There is one exception though, Apple has hundreds of thousands of applications that gives it an edge over any newly launched tablet. But with such a great tablet, Microsoft is going to attract considerably high number of users.

Though there is still not much details available about the Microsoft Surface tablets, what is clear so far is that it will be a winning product if Microsoft bosses are able to match Apple’s distribution might. But given Apple’s preferences, it seems to be difficult proposition. Microsoft has showcased two versions of the product. There will be one for Windows RT and the other will be for the newest OS Windows 8 pro. Microsoft has said that that they contracted the manufacture of the device’s hardware, however, no names have been disclosed as to who has made the individual parts. Regarding the price, sources suggest that they will be on higher side.

There are several features that make it absolutely different from other tablets available in the market. The most important feature that makes it different from other tablets available in the market including Apple’s iPad is its kickstand. Another good thing about Surface is the fact that it will come with accessories that iPad users have to buy. In fact, the kickstand was made by studying the hinges on car doors! It keeps the screen upright at an angle. The cover of the Surface which also serves as a tactile keyboard is soft and rubbery. Another great feature about it is the fact that it is extremely touch sensitive and a pleasure to work with.

Surface comes with great display. Reports suggest that it is a high definition variant that can display the richest hues and the darkest contrasts with ease. But when it comes to display, Surface seems to fell short of what Apple’s iPad 3 offers. A PCMagazine report while comparing both the displays says, “Microsoft has said that the Surface Pro will have a “Full HD” display, meaning a display with a resolution of at least 1920 by 1200 pixels. That would put it on a par with the best Android tablets from Asus and Acer; but because those displays are 0.5 inch smaller, their pixel density should be better. And none of those tablets’ resolutions can compare with the Apple iPad’s at 2048 by 1536 pixels

But the best thing that comes with it is its operating system. No one can compete with Microsoft’s Windows operating system. Its latest Windows 8 is going to be a lot better than its existing variants and that alone can attract millions of users towards it. Even many people who own an iPad will definitely go for one of the two Surface variants that Microsoft is planning to launch. Even higher price will not deter them.
