Samsung Galaxy S3 release date for US has come very close. Here is a comparison of Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC Evo 4G LTE. Both are great smartphones, but S3 has an edge

Samsung galaxy S3 is set to hit the US market pretty soon and the excitement is very high among smartphone lovers. It is the best smartphone available in the market and till October, there doesn’t seem o be any substantial competition for top spot as far as Galaxy S3 is concerned.

The best thing about Galaxy S3’s launch in the US this time is the fact that Samsung is launching a single variant across the board and not numerous variants of the same phone with slightly different specifications.

Every critic of his or her salt has heaped praise on this Samsung smartphone that is best and most powerful of them all. iPhone or other smartphones from numerous different smartphone manufacturers are so far finding it difficult to compete with this Samsung baby. HTC is the only manufacturer that has been able to come up with a product that is able to compete against it at least partly. Htc Evo 4G is another phone that may present some form of competition against Galaxy S3. Both Galaxy S3 and HTC Evo 4G LTE are Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich handsets.

Display
Korean tech giant Samsung’s latest smartphone has come with a large 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with the 720p resolution. Galaxy S3 is among the phones with largest display. Another Samsung smartphone Galaxy Note is bigger than this. Otherwise all other smartphones are smaller compared to it. It comes with dimensions of 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6mm and it weighs only 133 grams.

On the other hand Taiwanese tech giant HTC’s EVO 4G LTE comes with a 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD2 display with a resolution of 720 pixels. EVO 4G LTE comes with dimensions of 134.8 x 68.9 x 8.9mm and it weighs just 1 grams more than Galaxy S3. Its weight is merely 134 grams. The most special thing with the EVO 4G LTE is its kickstand, which is located in the middle at the rear panel. It will help users easily rest the device on the stand to watch movies, slideshows and surf web effortlessly. So Galaxy S3 has a slight size advantage when compared to HTC Evo 4G LTV.

Processor and Memory
Galaxy S3 is more powerful than many other smartphones available in the market. It comes with a quad core 1.4GHz Exynos processor. Yes, it is the first handset from Samsung to tout a quad core processor. The device has the same 1GB of RAM and it comes in with three memory options 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Plus, the handset features a microSD slot for up to 64GB external memory cards. Samsung also offers 50GB of free Dropbox storage with each version of Galaxy S III.

Taiwanese tech giant’s latest EVO 4G LTE comes with a powerful dual core 1.5GHz Krait CPU. The processor is supplemented by 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. And, different from One X, the device has a microSD slot that will support memory cards up to 32GB capacity. Another great thing about HTC Evo 4G LTE is the fact that every new handset comes with 25GB of free Dropbox storage for a couple of years.

Firmware and UI
When it comes to operating system, both the smartphones come with the same Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich. By the way these two are the first handsets to come preloaded with Google’s Android 4 and the users will not have to suffer by spending hours installing the latest Google OS for smartphones. When it comes to the User Interface, the EVO 4G LTE has Sense 4.0, the latest version of HTC’s interface for Android devices. For better audio experience, the handset has Dr. Dre’s Beats Audio. Galaxy S III, meanwhile, features TouchWiz 4.0 skin, which is a more advanced Android interface than HTC Sense 4. For users the development really augurs well and people will enjoy using the UI of both the handsets.

Connectivity
Both the devices come with 4G LTE connectivity. Both also have Bluetooth 3.0, NFC, microUSB 2.0, GPS and Wi-Fi with hotspot and DLNA. Galaxy S3 and HTC Evo 4G LTe have all the latest features in connectivity and we cannot pick a winner or loser at least when it comes to connectivity options.

Camera
When it comes to camera, both the smartphones compete well here too. Both come with 8-megapixel rear cameras with 1080p video recording. The EVO 4G LTE features HTC’s ImageSense technology for better snaps and video clips. The device also packs a secondary 1.3-megapixel camera for taking self-portraits and video conferences. Meanwhile, the S III comes with a new for video chatting. It has a 1.8 mega pixel camera that gives better result than HTC Evo 4G LTE.

Samsung dropped to a dual process for its North American release. I’ve read this on countless sites. I wish I was wrong. Its processor is a Dual 1.5 GHz just like Evo LTE. Here is a link to the specs: http://www.wirefly.com/eCommerce/SpecialOffer.aspx?cid=36210_c0429a1f1c984b1facfd3ac00fc32a9b

Your information about the processor is wrong. Any Galaxy S3 in the US with an LTE radio (the sprint one included) has a dual core processor. This is the same thing that happened with the Evo 4g LTE as its base phone, the One X, has a quad core processor like the base S3

the processors are the same for the US variants for both with the snap dragon S4 at 1.5 with LTE. The international version of the htc one x is a 1.5 quad and the S3 is the 1.4 quad exynos but neither support LTE.

The only negative for the Evo 4G LTE for me is the non-removable battery. I like to keep a spare charged and ready to swap. As for the Galaxy S 3, the screen is not as vibrant as the Evo. There are phone cases that provide a kickstand. The 2 Gb of memory, 50 Gb of Dropbox storage, S-voice, ability to watch videos while using other apps and all the extra features make the Galaxy S 3 the better choice.

Sense 4.0 is garbage. I have an Evo 4G LTE, and the damn thing has no RAM left. ICS uses about 1/4 of the 1 gig of RAM, while Sense and the bloated package that comes along with it uses over 1/2 of the 1 gig. Even with a rooted phone, programs like Twitter, Facebook, and other on-board apps that are frozen and supposedly deleted from the phone are still running and bogging the phone down.
I haven’t even had a chance to put the Evo through some serious use because the thing keeps having to soft reset. Save your money and wait for a different device.
