The first quarterfinals of euro 2012 is going to be very exciting. Portugal and Czech Republic are going to try their best to beat the other and enter the next level. Both are very capable teams and have displayed great team spirit and resilience to reach the quarterfinals.

Portugal has two players who can be very dangerous for their opponents. Helder Postiga is capable to beat any team singlehandedly if he is not tackled carefully by the enemy. He has scored three goals in the tournament so far and is capable to come up with the same ferocious performance that he displayed against other teams in previous matches. Helder Postiga who signed for Spanish club Real Zaragoza on a three-year deal has been a great find for his side during this important tournament. Zaragoza paid €1million for the forward who has remained a regular member of the Portuguese national team.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one player who remained dormant for first two matches of the tourney. But in the next match, he singlehandedly won the match by firing two importatngoals against the opponent. Now everyone is expecting him to show to the world as to why he is counted as the best footballer in the world. Ruud Gullit, a leading soccer player in eighties whole showering praise on the player says, “I’m sure he’ll give his best to extend his form to the Portuguese National Team and if he succeeds in doing that, he’ll be a menace to every opponent that faces Portugal in the competition. He has an amazing talent and he literally can score from any position”. And he showed to the world in the match against Netherlands that he is capable to accomplish any goals when it comes to soccer.

Czech Republic team despite being a great side is facing several issues right now. And these don’t augur well for the team. Czech Republic captain Tomas Rosicky is a great player. But he has been dogged with injury after injury. Even now there are speculations as to whether he will be able to play in the crucial match or not.  Rosický did not feature for Arsenal during the entire 2008–09 season due to his strange hamstring tendon injury. He eventually returned to full training in May 2009, after eighteen months of absence. In August 2009, he had again picked up another niggling injury, this time straining his hamstring, again out for six weeks. He injury scares have affected his game to a large extent.
