England vs Sweden Euro 2012 contest was a fight of equals. But Sweden played well while England played better and won the day

Well played but lost the game, this has been the story of Sweden in Euro 2012 as they were defeated by England on Friday by 3-2 in Kiev. With two straight loss Sweden is out of contention for the last 8.

Substitute Theo Walcott was star for England scoring the equalizer in the 64th minute and then setting up the winning goal and is now darling of the England media.

England team are joint topper of group ‘D’ with France who beat Ukraine 2-0. Both England and France have four points each.

England now play Ukraine in the last league match on Tuesday. Ukraine team are on the third position with three points and Sweden with no points are at the bottom.

The disappointment of Sweden could be understood by the statement given by its coach Erim Hamren. He quoted a Swedish saying that the operation was really good but the patient died.

The score line 3-2 might be misleading as the English side were in fact down 1-2 by the 59th minute of match. England started well as Andy Carroll scored with a header for it in the 23rd minute. The score line remained 1-0 till half time in favour of England.

But it took only four minutes for the Swedes to level the score line as Glen Johnson put the ball in the net of England. Only ten minutes later Sweden put the English side in awe and shock as defender Olof Mellberg got another goad for the Swedes. Now the score line was 2-1 in favour of Sweden.

At this moment England coach Roy Hodgson decided to replace ineffective James Milner in the 61St with Theo Walcott and Walcott got the equalizer for England within three minutes on the ground with a superb shot. Then 14 minutes later Walcott delivered a beautiful cross to Danny Welbeck who using his backheel put the ball into the nets.

Though the England media are all praise for Theo Walcott but Walcott himself is not overboard. He says that he does not consider himself as the game changer. He said after the match that it was nice to come off the bench and show what one could do. He was disappointed not to be starting.

Winning goal scorer Danny Welbeck said that to get the winning goal he was really delighted. On his first goal in a major tournament he said that he was just looking to start there and improve.

Its amazing to me that we can Beat Sweden. Now we don’t have a Swedish Coach/Manager that is!Lets keep our Coach and Managers English please. We have not much self respect left as far as Internationals are concerened, what with o ur Premier League teams now full of our Foreign Competetion players – they know all our moves and tactics beofe a ball is even kicked – Its the downfall of our Traditionla game unfortunatley!

But well done Lads, 1 more game will get us through – keep up the form…
Remember … “England Expects…….” and we do!
