Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley fight is now in WBO court (watch the video). One of the more controversial fights in the history of sports may be finally decided by the World Boxing Organisation than the two judges that gave the controversial decision in favor of Timothy Bradley.
Fans and sports experts have been unable to fathom the decision days after the controversial fight. The people and the experts who were sitting by the ringside were shocked when it was announced that the decision was split. But that was the lighter shock. They were jolted when it was announced that two judged had decided that the fight was won by Timothy Bradley while one judge had decided the fight in favor of Manny Pacquiao.
Earlier this year another fight had ended in disappointment when a British boxer of Pakistani origin Amir Khan lost his International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Association (WBA) world light-welterweight titles in controversial split points decision to American Lamont Peterson. Later, the same boxer Peterson was found to have been on banned drugs before a mandatory drug test prior to their rematch.
Amor khan, a rising star in the boxing world like Timothy Bradley, was given the fight 115-110 on one of the judge’s scorecards. However, the other two judges awarded local fighter Peterson the decision by scores of 113-112, enough for Khan to lose his belts. The result proved contentious with referee Joe Cooper twice deducting Khan a point for pushing, in the seventh and 12th rounds, decisions that ultimately turned the fight in Peterson’s favor. Amir Khan sought a fight with Bradley, but he didn’t agree to the proposal.
Bob Arum who promotes both the fighters has been condemning the decision in every forum. “The public saw the fight and they’re outraged, and we need clarity here…We need those responsible to investigate, to see what happened, how the judges could be so off…Was there any funny business going on? Or no funny business? Did they have a conversation with each other?” Arum asked. “We need to get clarity. The public is demanding it” said Bob Arum while demanding an investigation in whole drama.
