Reports have come from customers in Europe that Samsung Galaxy Note has finally got Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update

There is a good news for the owners of the largest smartphone, Samsung’s Galaxy Note. After weeks of impatient wait, there seems to be a ray of hope for them that they too are going to get Android 4 or Ice Cream Sandwich update on their beautiful and very useful handsets.

The phablet (phone+tablet) as many people love to call it, has proved to be a huge hit in the market. Due to its size and great specs, people who love to read lots of books and magazines on their smartphones, have developed a liking for it. For them this is something that keeps them busy wherever they are.

To be true, before the Galaxy note arrived people didn’t realize that a smartphone can be as big as 5.3 inches. Amazon Kindle Fire looks just slightly bigger than it. Samsung Galaxy Note is an exciting smartphone that was introduced in the market by carving out a new size category for itself. This smartphone is packed with features and applications that ensure you do not feel the need for a laptop or tablet. The Samsung Note comes with powerful specs including a 1.4 GHz Dual Core ARM Cortex-A9 Processor.

But the Ice Cream Sandwich will be available to people in stages. First to get the update will be users in Europe followed by in Asia. Samsung Galaxy Note comes with 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED Touchscreen that helps you view pictures, videos, files and more with crystal clear clarity. The smartphone is made all the more useful by its user interface The TouchWiz. Besides it has a very good 8 megapixel camera with an LED flash to help you take pictures of high quality. It also has a 2 megapixel front camera. It comes with 16 GB of internal memory. You can expand it by another 32 GB by microSD, microSDHC cards. All these features make it a standout smartphone in the market. And the users have great feedback to give about this phone from Korean giant.

I bought the Note a few days after it was released in U.S. by AT&T. I love this thing!!!! Yes, it’s a HUGE phone, but that was one of its most atrractive features. Frankly, I as I’m sure most others with smart phones spend more time doing other things on it than making and receiving phone calls. Everything from Facebook, Twitter, reading/sending emails, Netflix, and games are a joy to experience on the Note’s huge 5.3″ HD screen. What it boiled down to for me was that I didn’t feel like carrying my iPad all over the place with me and having two data plans (one for phone and one for tablet) just got lame. And frankly, it doesn’t feel as awkward as most may think when I do make/receive phone calls on it. Don’t know what Samsung did, but TouchWiz on the Note is silkly smooth. I was an iPhone user for well over three years before switching to the Note. I do miss some of the more user friendly features of the iPhone, but I have found Android to be a more flexible and robust OS once you get the hang of it. Both are good, but I can safely say that I’m now a convert of Android.

Quality control is nonexistent. I got a real piece of junk.It won’t receive texts. You have to be bionic to use it as it will only run for 10 seconds. This is fully charged. It looks nice, but I could not get it to do anything in the ten second window. I am debating as to trying a second one. The first one only lasted five minutes. It took the salesman longer to put it together than it’s total running time. That is a lot of money for a paper weight.

Thats great news, BUT as a new Galaxy Note user, I still cant log in to my google account with the note! It will let me into my gmail account if I go through the internet browser no problem. It tells me that my password or user name is incorrect when I try registering the phone with my google account. I had the Nexus S prior to the note and no problems, it even upgraded to ICS before I got the new phone, its very frustrating! And of course theres no way to contact google. Should have bouht the iphone 4s or the galaxy nexus!

no complaints, except their false promise abt ICS update on first quarter. I just love it and my ipad is sleeping for last 4 weeks. Lets see what apple is going to come up with.

I downloaded ICS this morning at 4:00am in the heart of Iowa!

I bought mine at The Shack and the folks there were completely ready to ensure the thing worked before I left the store. Yes, I spent a lot of time at the store, but I expected to. Doug, yes, the first one we opened was a lemon, but the second one–the one I have now–is perfect. Like many things, it is possible to get a “bad one” of something. It’s too bad you have had so much trouble. Good luck.
