Last-minute Mother’s Day 2012 gift ideas: spending time with her best gift

People are searching last-minute Mother’s Day 2012 gift ideas. Gifts are great, but spending quality time with her is the best gift to her

Our mothers need our attention the same way we needed theirs when we were small kids. For them, a short sit in session with their children works wonders especially when they are no longer working and stay away from their kids, alone or with your father, who is also equally old or even older.

On Mothers Day this year, the best thing you can do to your mother is to increase the time you spend with her either daily, or weekly. The loneliness is taking its toll on our elderly population and spending quality time with our parents particularly our mothers will help them live a long and healthy life.

A report while talking about the issue of loneliness among women says, “Older women report more loneliness than male peers. Loneliness is an area of concern related to the well being of older women because it is a cause of emotional distress and is linked to a variety of health problems in older individuals. Life changes, including widowhood and relocation, are associated with increased vulnerability to loneliness. Gender, social, and cultural factors influence the experience of loneliness in older women. Cognitive and interactionist theoretical approaches to loneliness have utility for nursing practice and research with older women who experience loneliness.”

There is no gainsaying the fact that other gifts too can make your mother happy, nonetheless spending a few hours with mom will bring smile on her face and make her heart happy. But to be true, when it comes to Mothers day this thought of spending time with her doesn’t come to many people’s minds. A report says, “At the same time, Mother’s Day 2012 finds most Americans hip-deep in what’s been dubbed as the “digital revolution” where sending Mom an e-mail, Tweet or Skype seems to be the extent of many Mother’s Day communications for Mom who may be home alone, or even in a senior home”.
