HTC One X matches well with Samsung Galaxy S3 on specs

Though it is slightly smaller than S3, but HTC One X matches well with Samsung Galaxy S3 on specs and features

Samsung seems to have a tough fight coming from none other than HTC. Galaxy S3 has been introduced in the market with great fanfare. It will be available in the shelves beginning before the month end and there are already hundreds of thousands of people willing to go for it as soon as it is available in stores.

But the smartphone is going to face a tough challenge from another Asian manufacturer of the top class Android smartphones, HTC. The Taiwanese manufacturer introduced two great smartphones in the market recently and both are attracting great media attention since then. HTC One X and HTC One S, both are hogging limelight and both are being loved by the users. HTC One X in particular has won praise for its great performance and aesthetics.

The smartphone from the Taiwanese tech giant is being loved by users for many reasons. It is lightweight and slim – in fact it ranges among the super-slim category. It has a polycarbonate finish much like that of Nokia’s Lumia 800, instead of the typical metal cover to keep the weight down. The rear is matted and the sides have polished finish. When compared to the plastic body of Galaxy S3, it seems miles ahead in terms of its display and body.

HTC One X is merely 1 inch smaller than Galaxy S3. The One X is getting attention as it is the first smartphone from HTC to feature a quad core processor. Moreover, the One X is a best example for the kind of innovation HTC brings on its new products. Not to be left behind in the congested mobile market, HTC has crafted this superb handset, which touts a large 4.7-inch display and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The screen is a large 4.7-inch 720p (1,280×720 pixels) scratch-resistant ‘Gorilla Glass’. The display is impressive with warm colours and sharp text and images. There are no onscreen software buttons. Instead there are three touch-sensitive keys located just below the screen.

The recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with a slightly bigger 4.8-inch display. For the first time Samsung has made the Galaxy S smartphone so large. To be true it seems natural growth. The first Galaxy S was 4 inch that went to be 4.3 inch in the case of Galaxy S2 and now 4.8 for Galaxy s3. The new handset sports a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that packs 720 x 1280 pixels at 306ppi. The multitouch display is protected by Corning’s second generation Gorilla Glass.

HTC One X has been made into a very powerful and great looking smartphone with great design. The sides on the top of the phone is where the power button, 3.5mm audio jack, and micro-SIM card slot reside. The right side plays host to the volume controls; the Micro-USB port is found on the left. Next to it are some speaker holes, instead of the metal grilles found on older HTC models. HTC said these holes are part of the polycarbonate chassis and are small enough that water droplets won’t be able to seep in. it also makes the phone all the more useful with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass.

Both Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X come preloaded with Ice Cream Sandwich. HTC has been enhanced by HTC’s newly streamlined Sense interface. It is powered by a quad-core processor that is said to be faster than any other currently inside an Android phone on the market.

The smartphone has an 8-megapixel camera with backside-illuminated (BSI) sensor and a lens with an f2.0 maximum aperture. From this come some of the sharpest images with an easy editing feature. Above the display on the front is another 1.3-megapixel camera. Galaxy S3 on the other hand also comes with the same 8 mega pixel rear camera. But its front camera quality is better than HTC One x. its front camera for video chatting is 1.9 mega pixel that is fairly good to send very clear pictures and videos.

^Typical consumers. More cores =/= better performance.

If the 3g download speeds on the S3 are as slow, erratic and unpredictable as the S2, it simply will not matter how much lipstick they put on that pig, the HTC will still remain a superior device.
