Patna: Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar has a strange way of hating Gujrat chief minister Narendra Modi and loving him too. In the meeting of NCTC (National Counter Terrorism Centre) Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi shook hands and naturally the photograph of this handshake got published across the nation and both of them got publicity without spending a penny.

But this publicity has other ways of affecting Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar has been showing his displeasure against Narendra Modi by one way or the other often without suggesting such thing. His message got spread without quoting Narendra Modi.

Lalu Prasad is not convinced of such ‘courtesy’ shown by Nitish Kumar. Mr. Prasad is himself facing allegations of nepotism, so, this photo-op has provided him a crucial change to attack Nitish.Lalu is critical of the ‘smiling way’ of handshaking of Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi. According to Lalu they shook hands like old friends.

Lalu said that Nitish shows his displeasure for Narendra Modi and shakes hands in Delhi. He tried to ridicule Nitihs by stating that when Bihar Diwas was observed in Gujrat, Nitish was not invited there.

Nitish Kumar termed the handshake as a natural process saying that people meet at different places like Loksabha and Assembly. He said that criticism of his handshake is the result of mental bankrupcy.>

Nitish Kumar had opposed, though never on record, Narendra Modi’s involvement in Bihar’s Assembly election of 2010 and the Lok Sabha polls of 2009. A full page advertisement showing Ntish Kumar and Narendra Modi on the same dais was also in controversy. Similar frenzy was created when Nitish Kumar returned the flood relief fund Gujarat gave to Bihar in 2008.

Both Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi are projected as ‘Prime Ministerial’ candidate of NDA and political observers see Nitish Kumar’s aversion to Narendra Modi as an attempt to put himself as a secular face of NDA. While BJP leaders put Narendra Modi, JD(U) leaders project Nitish as the fittest candidate for the PM post.

Interstingly, the party president of JD(U) Sharad Yadav always avoid to make any comment on this love and hate story but BJP leaders try to put a brave face saying that both parties are following their own agenda.

Abdul Bari Siddiqui, leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly is saying that all the fuss of Nitish Kumar over Narendra Modi is just political stunt. Siddiqui is known for his sobriety, but he is supposed to be very soft on Nitish Kumar. Still, he says that Nitish is befooling the people and both are good friends in public and private life.

Siddiqui’s party RJD has said that this is the real face of Nitish Kumar questioning his credentials as a secular leader.
