The tech world may be excited by Samsung’s new Galaxy S3’s superb specs and features. Samsung unveiled the device at its Samsung Unpacked media event in London on May 3. On the same day, the company’s major South Korean rival LG Electronics has brought us a flagship Android handset called the Optimus LTE2. The new member to the Optimus series is mainly known for 2GB of RAM, when Galaxy S3 still has 1GB of RAM. Anyway, the new 4G LTE Ice Cream Sandwich-based phone from LG will make waves in market with its incredible features. Here is everything you need to know about LG Optimus LTE2.
Form factor: Like iPhone 4S, the LG Optimus LTE2 is made out of metal and glass materials. Samsung’s new Galaxy S3 is built with plastic body that is 8.9mm thin. LG hasn’t yet divulged the dimensions and weight of the gadget.
Display: The LG Optimus LTE2 will sport a TrueHD IPS display. LG hasn’t exposed both the screen size and resolution of the device. Probably, it may have 720p resolution. Anyway, Samsung has upgraded its Galaxy S3’s display to 4.8-inch from its predecessor’s 4.3-inch screen. LG Optimus LTE2 may also have a large display matching with the current trend in smartphone market.
2GB of RAM: We all expected that Galaxy S3 will have 2GB of RAM. But Samsung launched its new Galaxy S phone with 1GB of RAM. Now LG has beaten its Galaxy S3 competitor with a whopping 2GB of RAM. Well, it is the area where the LG Optimus LTE2 will outclass all recent smartphones.
Android 4.0 ICS: The Optimus LTE2 is yet another new handset we have with the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The new version of Android is just gaining momentum on market with many high-end smartphones. Galaxy S3 is the first new handset from Samsung to come with the firmware.
4G LTE: Well, the device’s name itself says that it is a 4G LTE handset. The advanced wireless network technology is the main attraction of the latest smartphones.
Battery: The Optimus LTE2 will mount a powerful 2150 mAh battery. The company hasn’t revealed the possible battery life of the phone. Of course, it may have a neat battery performance. “Seeing how battery life is the one taking the beating due to the current specs of smartphones, LG has announced that this new smartphone, the Optimus LTE2 will have a battery life more optimized than 40 percent of existing smartphones,” Tech2.com comments.
Voice recognition and face unlock: The camera of the device comes with the advanced voice recognition functions. It will let users snap images faster and quickly. It also has face unlocking feature, which is one of coveted capabilities of the new smartphones.
Price and availability: LG hasn’t also announced the pricing and release date of the Optimus LTE2 in global markets. However, it will be available for grabs in South Korea by the middle of May 2012. There is chance that LG may price the device below the price of new Galaxy S3 to become competitive.
