Secret service Colombia sex scandal is making headlines all over the world. Meanwhile reports suggest that payment of prostitutes landed them in trouble.
It was the dispute––involving at least one US Secret Service agents––over the payment to the prostitute for the “services” she had rendered, which landed all 11 of them in trouble.
The agents not only indulged in sexual misconduct, but perhaps they did so without paying the ‘due’. The prostitute, whom one of them hired, charged that she was offered just $30 for her services when she deserved something 25 times more.
The New York Times has carried the first interview of the Colombian escort involved in the incident.
According to the daily the woman is a single mother from Colombia who makes a living as a high-priced escort. She said that one of the Secret Service agents, whom she confronted in his Cartagena hotel room, “offered $30 for services she thought they had agreed were worth 25 times that.”
The woman described how she and a girlfriend were approached by a group of American men at a nightclub. She said that they never said that they were Secret Service agents providing security to Obama. “They were very discreet,” was how she was quoted in the daily.
Her account is very much on the line which is coming out officially from Washington. She recalled how the men bought a bottle of Absolut vodka for the table and when that was finished bought another one.
According to the New York Times story the morning after their encounter the hotel management called her to remind her that, under the hotel’s rules for prostitutes, she had to leave.
It was then that the dispute over the payment sparked off. It flared up, spilling out into the hallway, where another escort who spent the night with another agent across the hall joined the argument. It is upon that they alerted police “who tried to argue the woman’s case.” Upon this the hotel security too arrived.
After much haggling she lowered her demand, and the men “gave her a combination of dollars and local currency worth about $225, and she left.”
It was several days later that a local television station reported that the dispute involved the US Secret Service agents, and thus the scandal exploded just on the eve of the arrival of Obama.
Curiously, some of the agents said they did not know that the women were prostitutes but thought that they were at the bar.
