Amazon Kindle Fire 2 is making headlines long before its actual launch in the market. Abdul Vahid V talks about the features that people want to have in the new Kindle Fire
Amazon Kindle Fire has become the leading competitor of Apple’s iPad in the tablet market. Before Kindle Fire’s launch the tablet market was completely dominated by Apple iPad. Samsung Galaxy Tab, Asus Transformer Prime and a few other Android tablets were there, but they had little influence over the market.
The Kindle Fire with its low price factor, small size and reader friendly features made important inroads in the tablet market. Amazon made records in selling tablets in the last months of 2011. For the first time, Apple iPad got a real challenger. But how long will this sheen remain?
Apple has released a new upgrade (iPad 3) and the entire Android industry has woken up to fight Kindle Fire and iPad alike with multiple products under various price tags. As per rumors, Amazon has already started working with a new version of Kindle Fire. Possibly, the new Kindle Fire will land in stores sooner than later to compete with the iPad 3 and other Android products.
Competition is tough: Things have largely changed after Kindle Fire’s release. Influenced by this small tablet, countless numbers of small 7-inch tablets have landed in the market over the last several months. Lots of tech makers including startups and small companies have released tablets with diverse features. Here it is necessary for Amazon to roll out a new version of its famous Kindle Fire tablet. The upgraded version should have enough features to make it a competitive product in the crowded market.
Large display will do more: It is a fact that small screen size is one of success secrets of the original Kindle Fire. The device sports a 7-inch IPS TFT capacitive touchscreen with 1024 x 600 pixels. Following Kindle Fire, lots of tech makers including the biggies like Samsung brought us some 7-inch low-cost versions. Anyway, right now, Amazon should bring a Kindle Fire version with a 10-inch display as well. The number of people who buy large tablets is on a steady increase and so a Kindle Fire with 10-inch display will make further inroads in markets.
Front camera for video chatting: Indeed, a rear camera for a tablet is almost pointless. People don’t always use a tablet to capture images or videos. It is a pesky job to focus on an image or video using heavy tablets. But, a front camera is a must for a tablet, which is undeniably ideal for chatting. Amazon unfortunately skipped both cameras on its Kindle Fire. It is time the company should launch a new Kindle Fire with at least a front camera, video chatting apps and other facilities.
Rich connectivity options: Kindle Fire only lets you connect with the web via its built-in Wi-Fi. It may be an exclusive device for reading online books and watching online contents. But it unluckily misses cellular network connectivity, Bluetooth and others. The new Kindle Fire should have better connectivity options.
Latest firmware for a new experience: It is great that Android’s new version Ice Cream Sandwich runs on all types of tablets form high quality products to the basic ones. The new Kindle Fire is largely hoped to come out with the Ice Cream Sandwich. The current Kindle Fire runs on the outdated Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The ICS will muscle up the capacity of Kindle device to new levels.
Conclusion
Many more things like a high power processor, sleek and thin design and rich multimedia features are expected to appear on the new tablet from Amazon. Anyway, things may not be much easier for the world’s largest online vendor with its new Kindle Fire. The market currently features a plethora of low-priced tablets. Local tech makers enter into the tablet industry with low priced products and increased capabilities. Amazon should design its Kindle Fire 2 with more advanced features to rekindle a new war in tablet market.
