I look forward to the new macbook but if you look at prices for the air versus the pro you get a lot more in the pro because it doesn't have a slim body, no ssd, etc. If you add a SSD to a pro at the moment with a higher def screen and antiglare the cost goes up enormously. If the price of the new pro goes up significantly they can forget my business...and I get a feeling it will go up in price...thats the apple way...their might be a whole bunch of fans out their..but when they want to steal your money because of the apple badge I know when to stop.

"Anyway, the difference in performance between the current Sandy Bridge-based Macbook and the new ones will be extreme."

No it won't, die shrinks aren't extreme performance increases and people know this (or at least technically savvy people).

But congrats, just another laptop that happens to be housed in aluminum being priced outrageously with normal hardware. That's the Apple gimmick.

I don't want a thinner laptop. I want to buy the best quality BlueTooth devices that I can afford, such as headphones, mouse, keyboard, phone, MP3 player, etc. I want to use them with the following equipment while traveling, working, and at home:

For active or casual work outside the home or office, I want: an iPad, Android Tablet, or slate computer controlled by an Ivy Bridge chip, an 64-128GB SSD drive, a fast graphics chip, and camera capabilities good enough for making clear, readable records, news or personal photos good enough to print, or HD 1080p Videos good enough to send to friends and family members or use in videos.

So that it can be paired and data-dumped with a home office computer it should have: Bluetooth 4.0; a 3.5 mm speaker port; a microphone port; Wi-Fi a/b/g/n capability; a USB 3.0 port for charging and for high-speed/high capacity flash drives, and an ultra high speed/high capacity SD card reader/writer. All of these chips, ports, and capabilities are available on one or more tablet or slate computers today; but they always seem to lack one, two, or more of these ports or capabilities, or low-grade versions of them.

For home/office work, I want: A Mac Pro port center computer based on the Ivy Bridge chip and a graphics chip good enough for gaming, with at least one of each of the following ports, all of which are here now and getting cheaper by the minute - USB 3.0 (USB 2.0/1.1 Compatible) port, Ultra High-speed SD/MMC or faster card reader, HDMI port, a Thunderbolt port connected to a Thunderbolt multi-TB SATA hard drive, a Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) port, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi N capability, and a large Thunderbolt TB hard drive.

For entertainment and for home/office work, I want: A Blu-ray/DVD/CD read/write drive, a Thunderbolt multi-TB SATA hard drive, one or more 1080p, 120HZ, HDTVs, and surround sound speakers, controlled and linked by a media center which includes all of the ports and chips for: Wi-fi N; HDMI; Thunderbolt; 3-4 USB 3.0 ports; Bluetooth 4.0. and a Ultra-high-speed, high-capacity SD card reader.

Steve Jobs is gone, but I'm not - yet. I've used and owned Mac computers since I started using a MacPlus in 1986 to run a small corporation. I own three Mac computers now, two of them laptops. I skipped the MacBook generation, waiting for what I want. It's here now. I'm 71.

Get rid of dedicated graphics...? If there is no dedicated graphics card in at least the 15 inch model then I will consider buying a PC. I want to be able to play the newest games while having a machine that doesn't break down. I know some of the best games aren't for mac, but you can still install windows and get great performance if you download the correct graphics drivers correctly.

I been waiting for the MacBook Pro 17” to update. I have a 2008 version that is great but it is time to upgrade. I run my Houston home improvement business with it and I have used it at least 10 hrs per day for the last 4 years. All the rumors keep pointing to the 13” and 15” but most do not mention the 17”. I just wish they would announce it already. I’m definitely not paying for a new one when it is obvious that the next version will be out soon.
