Transcendental Meditation has got a new and great advocate, Oprah Winfrey who seems to have taken to the Transcendental Meditation practice in a big way. She seems to be extremely impressed with the Transcendental Meditation and is ready to aggressively propagate it in all the forums.
The latest episode of Oprah Winfrey’s “Next Chapter” on the diva’s OWN network shows how much she is devoted to practicing Transcendental Meditation. A form of Yoga introduced by an Indian rishi in the mid fifties has become a rage with an increasingly large number of Americans getting hooked to it to remain mentally strong and fight depression.
The proponents of Transcendental Meditation say that the yoga comes with a number of health benefits and can cure many mental diseases. There are some reports that suggest that Transcendental Meditation can successfully fight anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder. A study even went o the extent of suggesting that the meditation results in improved school performance.
There are reports that suggest that it also successfully cures blood pressure and diabetes. And many people suggest that the claims are true. Russell Brand while talking about the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation said, “What it felt like to me was the dissolution of the idea of myself…Like, I felt separateness evaporated, this tremendous sense of oneness. I’m quite a neurotic thinker, quite an adrenalized person. But after meditation, I felt this beautiful serenity and selfless connection. My tendency towards selfishness, I felt that exposed as a superficial and pointless perspective to have.”
