iPhone 4S sales may top 40 million iPhones in China by 2013

Morgan Stanley predicts that Apple iPhone 4S and other versions of iPhones sales may top 40 million in China by 2013

iPhone 4S was very much a sore point in China instead of the celebrated smartphone because many an eager customer could not lay his hands on the coveted phone owing to shortage of stocks. This led to street brawls, Apple stores ‘egged’ and its employees beaten up. Now Apple is confessing that the shortage of iPhones in China was to be blamed on its own lack of organization and poor launch.

However, these early hiccups were taken care of by the sheer popularity of the device and iPhone 4S went on to become a huge sell-out adding impressive sale figures to the already monstrous sale figures of the iPhone 4S across the globe.

Now some analysts are predicting that Apple can rake in even more iPhone 4S sales by 2013 as the demand does not seem to be abating anytime soon. Number crunchers also add that the sales of iPhone 4S alone can add as much as $10 per share in revenue from China alone.

Another remarkable prediction comes from the side of Investment bank Morgan Stanley that states that Apple will partner with both China Telecom and China Mobile over the next year, thus making all three of the Chinese carriers available for iPhone. Now such a prospect translates to the addition of some 40 million to the sales figures of iPhones in 2013. Even without this probability, Apple is said to reach about 10% of the 150 million high-end Chinese subscribers in the country because it is currently partnered with China Unicom. Morgan Stanley also adds that iPhone 5 will arrive in Q3 of 2012 with the launch on China Mobile expected to happen in late 2012 or early 2013.

China Mobile is the world’s largest wireless carrier. It has to its credit the bulk of the country’s high-end subscribers with an estimated 120 million customers who pay more than 100RMB ($16) a month. The final 10% of high-end subscribers are clients of China Telecom, that happens to be the third-largest carrier in China.

Katy Huberty has another well analysed prediction up her sleeve. It goes like this that if Apple can ship 40 million units to China; the sales there alone can guarantee an increase of $10 per share in earnings for Apple. But she adds that the major factor is that the sixth-generation iPhone is expected to be compatible with China Mobile’s upcoming 4G TD-LTE network, though the expectation happens to be slightly early to be rock solid.

She ads that Apple has the potential, very likely so, to reach 10%  of the 150 million “high-end Chinese subscribers” in the country through its current partnership with China Unicom.
