PlayStation Vita, Sony’s fresh handheld gaming device, is to hit U.S. stores on 22, February, 2012. The much awaited gaming console will be up for a price starting from $249.99 in the country. Ahead of the release, the Japanese gaming giant has announced the U.S. titles for the gaming device. The titles will be available for purchase from the day one.
As per reports, the new PlayStation gaming device will make big impact in the gaming industry in the country. Up with many cutting edge features like two analog sticks, a 5-inch OLED multitouch capacitive touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optional 3G, PlayStation Vita will change the way we have been familiar with the handheld gaming devices. PS Vita titles for the U.S.
Sony’s published titles for the handheld gaming device include ModNation Racers: Road Trip, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Army Corps of Hell, wipEout 2048, Escape Plan, Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational and Little Deviants. Third party titles include Michael Jackson: The Experience, Plants vs. Zombies, Touch My Katamari, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition, FIFA Soccer and Lumines Electronic Symphony.
Sony PlayStation Vita features
Stylish form factor: The gaming device is rightly a streamlined and upgraded version of the PlayStation Portable (PSP). PSV features a rectangle form factor and button layout. Instead of its predecessor’s analog pad, a comfy analog thumbstick is there on PlayStation Vita. Moreover, there is a second stick on the right side of the display. As a whole, PS Vita looks a cute handheld gaming console for great gaming experience.
Bright display: Sony PS Vita will sport a 5-inch OLED multitouch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 960 x 544 qHD at 220 ppi and 24-bit color. The display provides better color, brightness and resolution than PSP’s display.
Interface: The interface of PS Vita is also fantastic. Sony has ditched its longstanding XrossMediaBar menu system for the Vita. It has a more Android-like firmware and it performs far better than the interface of its predecessor.
Processing performance: PlayStation Vita will be powered by a 4 core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore CPU, 512 MB RAM, 128MB VRAM and 4 core SGX543MP4+ GPU. Well, thanks to the high end components, the gaming console performs superbly.
Input: The advanced gaming console features multiple options for input. Apart from the touchscreen display, you have Sixaxis motion sensing, three-axis electronic compass, D-pad, 12 x buttons (Triangle, Circle, Cross, Square, L, R, Start, Select, Home, Volume ±, Power) and two analog sticks on the gadget.
PlayStation Vita Card: Instead of the Universal Media Discs (UMDs) on the original PlayStation Portable, PS Vita comes up with a new proprietary flash memory stick, dubbed PlayStation Vita card. The memory card is available in various capacities from 2GB to 32GB.
Price and availability
In the U.S, Sony PlayStation Vita will appear on 22nd February, 2012. It was released in Japan on December 17, 2011. Sony has announced the pricing for the U.S. version of the gaming console, however. The Wi-Fi model of the device comes for $249.99 and the 3G/Wi-Fi combo comes for $299.99. Meanwhile, the pre-order bundle of the handheld gaming console comes for $349. The bundle contains a 3G/Wi-Fi PS Vita, 4GB PS Vita memory card, limited edition case and the Little Deviants game. Sony will start to accept pre-orders for the device on February 15, 2012.
