Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs iPhone 4S: in specs iPhone scores over Galaxy Prime

Comparison has already started between Samsung Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S. But many say that in specs the next gen iPhone scores heavily over Nexus Prime

Samsung Galaxy Nexus is going to be the next big thing for tech nerds. It is touted to be the first smart phone coming loaded with Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and hence among the best Android smart phones available in the market.

But notwithstanding the fact that it is the first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smart phone, it is not going to be the best when it comes to specification. Though Android fans would say it will be the best performing Android phone due to the better and improved operating system, specs are not even as impressive as Samsung Galaxy S2 that was launched close to six months ago.

October 27 is being very impatiently awaited by Android fans. For them this would be a day when Samsung Prime will come loaded with Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system that would be very competitive against the just released Apple’s iOS 5.

But notwithstanding the euphoria surrounding the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the Galaxy Nexus, the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich may not be as impressive as iOS 5. So far there are no indication that it may offer something on the same lines as iMessage and Newsstand.

People are very impressed with the new iMessage that comes loaded with the iOS5 and allows users to communicate (send and receive messages) from their Apple devices. An iPhone user can send messages to another iPhone users almost free, the same way it happens between BlackBerry users.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy Prime comes with a far bigger screen and far thinner than iPhone 4S. It is certainly amazing how Samsung has packed such powerful features in such a thin smart phone.

iPhone 4 S meanwhile has created records of sorts. It will be very hard for anyone to break its pre-order records. More than a million units were sold within 24 hours on the very same day when it went for pre orders. I am sure only an Apple iPhone can break this record. Android phones have fans but the fan base is spread between three to four manufacturers and the user base is divided among them.

Samsung’s next smart phone Galaxy Nexus will come loaded with 1.2 GHz OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor. It will have 1 GB RAM and 32 GB hard disk. It will have 5 mega pixel camera capable of making HD quality video. I am not sure why Samsung has not given it an almost mandatory 8 mega pixel camera. 1.3-megapixel front camera could have easily been improved to at least 2 mega pixel camera.

    I just want to add, this isn’t really a VS comparison.
    It just of course, cannot be DONE yet.
    You also failed (not FAILED but for the lack of a better word) to prove how the iPhone 4S tops the G-Nex.
    Is it the pixel density?
    Were you thinking about the dual core Pover VR gpus?
    You just think like me, and don’t see OMAP performing in general?
    Yeah, I agree, and the camera? I thought it was going to be 8mp.
    Even if it was, Apple’s post-processing would put it to shame.
    I’m annoyed by Samsung – Moto is the cool one.
    Lets go lets see some effed up out of space (yet simplistic) Droids, MoGo…or Gomo…Googlrola !?

    Just ignore this article, the author is obviously very retarded and in no authority to be reporting on technology news.

    Not only did he get the date of the announcement of the new Nexus wrong, (it’s the 19th, whereas the author claims the 27th) the specs he describes are mere rumors, of which there are conflicts between BGR and GSM Arena. Not to mention that he is obviously biased towards Apple, in the fact that he claims that the new Nexus “is not going to be the best when it comes to specification”, yet proceeds to contradict himself by describing the Nexus’ superior specs (RAM, screen size, etc.).

    The Author is an Apple weenie. First, you cannot make the comparison because the official specs for the Galaxy Nexus have not been released yet. You are assuming the BGR reported specs are accurate and from what I’ve heard, they aren’t. There will be two Nexus phones and they probably will not have the same specs.

    The iPhone 4S screen is too small. The iPhone 5 is rumored to have a 4″ screen so if that rumor is true, then even Apple knows it to be true. The iPhone will not have 4G LTE or 4G Wimax, only HSPA+ which is a deal breaker right there. The iPhone processor at 1 ghz is slower than the other processors coming out on high end smart phones today. The Galaxy Nexus is rumored to run at either 1.2 ghz or 1.5 ghz.

    It would appear that the iPhone 4S does have a better camera and that Siri is superior to the Android voice command apps. Sales figures don’t determine if one phone is better than another. That’s like saying Hondas are better than Mercedes because more people buy Hondas.

    People buy iPhones because Apple makes them. They don’t care about the specs. You don’t have to be a tech nerd to enjoy a large HD display, fast data speeds, a fast processor and a phone devoid of carrier bloatware.

    Had the iPhone 5 come out with a 4″ screen and 4G LTE then we would have a very interesting comparison. Of the people who have ordered the iPhone 4S, how many of them already own an iPhone or another Apple product? I would bet the majority of them do.

    This is so clearly a planted story. The nexus will have at LEAST a 1.2ghz dual processor (possibly 1.5) : and a gb of ram. Also, a dual core gpu. And this is lesser than the 4s, with its 1ghz dual processor and 512mb of ram? IOS5 must be really efficient to even compare…

    The ONLY utility in this comparison is the obviousness of the “cult” status of apple. The samsung product is not even confirmed yet and already the apple addicts are coming out of the wood work to insert themselves like a foul breath in the useful considerations of genuine seekers.

    Specs alone do not make the phone, but your “technical comparison” is unfair… to the iPhone.

    Forget the yet to be announced Nexus Prime. The 6+ month old Galaxy S2 is already better specced than the iPhone 4S… the nexus will only make this gap bigger.

    If you prefer iOS, great, just say so. But if you’re going to discuss technicalities then get a clue first.

    LOL… This guy is hilarious, the only spec the 4s will have on the Nexus Prime is that you might see a glimpse of it in the next Michael Bay film because apple paid alot of money to have it there. Sorry but the 4s or the i5 will never “score heavily over the Nexus Prime.” Maybe someday it won’t be “cool” to have an iPhone

    This article is complete crap. It emblazons “in specs iPhone scores over Galaxy Prime” right in the title, but fails to ever point out how the iPhone scores better. It would be one thing if something subjective were being measured, but its not. Specs are specs.

    Tap to focus? Really??? What a feature! The iPhone really has that one up over the the Nexus Prime. There’s just a bunch of useless features spewed all over the page for the iPhone. Somehow, the fact that the Nexus Prime has a bigger screen (4.65 inch vs 3.5inch), better resolution (1280×720 vs 960×640), a faster processor (Dual Core 1.2GHz vs Dual Core 1GHz), and more RAM (1GB vs 512MB) just slips through the cracks. Those specs are irrelevant though, in light of the fact that there are Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coatings to compare with.

    Apple products are great, but it’s articles like these that burn my biscuits. I’m sure the 4s is a great phone, but be realistic. It didn’t change the world. If it’s a specs war, the 4s lost a long time ago.

    I didn’t realize they allowed the Onion writers on here. For your information, the existing Samsung Galaxy S2 is more powerful than the iphone 4s(hit). The Nexus Prime completely obliterates every iphone combined including next year’s iphone 5.

    Other comments have already posted the obvious – you are trying to compare the iPhone 4S with the Prime even when there is no spec released yet for the Sammy. Granted that the A5 is benchmarked to be faster than the Exynos or any other mobile processor out there, we won’t know yet until a real world comparison takes place. You can see a few of these on youtube (search for ipad2 vs samsung galaxy s2 browser benchmark – samsung galaxy s2 wins the benchmark in this one) FYI the ipad2 uses the same A5 processor as the 4S but the 4S is rumored to be underclocked to around 800MHz. Still, this processor packs quite a punch (search youtube for iphone 4s vs samsung galaxy s2 benchmark – iphone 4S wins the browser speed test in this one). Anyway, my point is while both Prime and 4S are impressive, we cannot compare yet based on spec sheet, less so when these specifications are just speculations.

    I’m sure most of you know this, but for those who don’t – the frequency of the processor doesn’t directly translate to performance. As an example, the 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor (Tmobile Galaxy S2) performs a little lower on benchmarks as compared to the 1.2GHz Exynos (Sprint/AT&T Galaxy S2). It’s like comparing a Pentium4 3.8GHz processor with a Core i7 3.2GHz processor. The i7 will simply wipe the floor with the P4.

    Uhmmmmm well lets see galaxy nexus will have a bigger super amoled hd screen, 1.5 omap proccesor, not a 5 megapixel camera ( i assure you) rather an 8 mp, NFC, 4g lte, and on top of all this its thinner than the iphone 4s. In every way besides ios 5, the Nexus has the iphone beat.

    Nexus also will have 1 gig of ram. Ios 5 is the real only factor over the nexus, and ice cream sandwich will give it a run for its moneyfor sure. Its amazing how many apple fan boys are convinced the 4s is a golden phone when the technology has been there for years.

    My friend is returning his iphone 4s for quite a few reasons, but mainly, icloud is broken and no 4G speed. You can’t sync what is broken and requiring wi-fi to do it is just dumb. Also Siri is ported to his iphone 4 now, so whats he need a 4s for?

    Maybe next year Apple ifans…
