Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher has filed a statement to run in Ohio’s Ninth District. Commonly known as “Joe The Plumber”, is rumoured to run for Congress.
In August he was reported to have said, “I think it’s a very interesting idea…that’s as much as I can say.”
About his candidacy the chairman of county Republican Party of his hometown said that there was “high-level interest in the national Republican Party” for his candidacy.
Wurzelbacher rose to fame in 2008 when he opposed Barack Obama’s plan to let the Bush tax cuts expire for those making $250,000 or more.
To his opposition, Obama replied, “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”
Wurzelbacher blamed McCain and said that he “really screwed up my life” following the report that he was not a licensed plumber and would likely get a tax break under Obama’s plans.
Besides this new entrant, Incumbent Democratic Reps. Marcy Kaptur and Dennis Kucinich are now running from Toledo. Cuyahoga County Republican Chair Rob Frost and Tom Guarente are running as Republicans.
