As the world reassesses UFC 136 Edgar vs Maynard fight results, everyone seems to be sure that it was a great fight

Champions are made of different stuff, we know and that seems to have been proved again. Edgar was in full flow yesterday and proved his superiority without any doubt.

He claims to have won the fight in the last outing against Maynard that was touted as a draw. Edgar firmly believes that it was he who had won the fight, but the judges said that no one won the fight.

Frankie Edgar has improved his game by several notches since the champion faced Maynard three years ago.

But if you thought that the fight was a cakewalk for the champ you are far from the truth. In the first round, he got a big beating from Maynard and it seemed that the game was all but over for Edgar.

But that was only the bad phase in the four rounds of ferocious fight that ended in memorable will for Edgar who had to wait for three matches to get this elusive win.

By scoring a fourth round stoppage of Maynard in the UFC 136 main event, Edgar finally proved to the world that he is the best in his class. Maynard was the one who had beaten him and then had a tied match. Now Edgar can sleep peacefully content with the fact that he has finally beaten the one who was a constant pain in his neck.

Dana White was all praise for Edgar. After the fight he said, “Frankie Edgar has proven himself again and again…Frankie’s a 145-pounder walking through 155-pound guys. So when you really look at what pound-for-pound means, Frankie Edgar’s pound-for-pound. He’s the man.”
