136 results are out and Edgar has finally come out smiling. Though there were bruises on his face and elsewhere, but the broad smile on his face made them irrelevant. It was a rather tough fight and Maynard was not ready to give up, until he was actually forced to do.
But it took Edgar a rather long time to be able to win over Maynard. First fight was won by Maynard outright. The second fight remained inconclusive though Edgar thought he was the winner. But as he had to prove a point, he finally emerged winner beating Maynard in the fourth round of the fight today.
To be true, Maynard was on top in the first round. He was throwing punching, trying to kick Edgar out in the first round itself and made several takedown efforts. But all remained futile and Edgar held his place firmly and didn’t allow Maynard to get past him once again.
Toyota Center in HOUSTON was witness to a fight that is going to give Edgar his rightful place in the UFC, undisputed and unchallenged.
Originally scheduled to rematch Gray Maynard at UFC 130 on May 28, UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar has had to withdraw from the bout due to what was first reported as a rib injury. At that time Edgar said his back had been bothering him for some time and he tried to fight through the pain and ended up popping out his rib while training at Ricardo Almeida‘s Jiu Jitsu Academy.
