LUKNOW (NVONEWS): Good news is good news. The reasons behind the news might be twisted, it might be too little, and late if not too late, but good news is good news. And the UP government’s decision to withdraw its special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court against the appointment of Moallims as teachers is nothing if not a good news.
Madarsa educated moallims will now be able to get jobs on their degrees, which they spent years acquiring. There is a caveat though. It applies only to degrees between 1994-1997. And it is only because it is election time now. Well.
The Moallim Degree Holder of Uttar Pradesh is very happy these days. It will be much more easier to get a Government job as a teacher and a good salary. The Moallim Degree holders have been fighting for the right for the last six to seven years.
As this degree was equivalent to BTC so in the year 2005 some people had filed a petition for the appointment of Moallim Degree holder as teachers in government schools. But the Samajwadi Party Government had stopped the appointments. After that the issue went to Court. In 2010 a single judge bench of the High Court ordered that Moallims should be given jobs as teachers. The government responded by filing an SLP against the judgment. Those affected then met different official including Mr. Naseemuddin Siddiqui and expressed their grievances.
As the election draws near in Uttar Pradesh and parties eye Muslim votes, the BSP government has decided to withdraw the SLP. In the absence of further hindrance there is a hope that about 20000 Moallims will get jobs as teachers in Government schools.
