Obama health care law still mired in legal wrangling. 26 states have appealed in the court to scrap it fully
President Obama’s healthcrare legislation remains in news for one reason or the other. In fact there have been more controversies regarding his halth care bill than any other legislation in recent history in the US.
As many as 26 states had appealed before the court asking it to declare the whole bill unconstitutional. But the court only announced parts of the bill unconstitutional. This means that the legislation, one of the backbone of Obama’s presidential bid during the last presidential polls.
Obama administration lawyer has asked the court to undertake the hearing as soon as possible and said that this was an issue of national importance.
A senior Obama administration official U.S. Solicitor General Donald Verrilli said, (ruling) “is fundamentally flawed and denies Congress the broad deference it is due in enacting laws to address the nation’s most pressing economic problems and set tax policy”.
But there many state governments who are dead against the healthcare law saying that it was illegal and cannot be implemented in the US.
Meanwhile common people too are badly divided on the issue of healthcare. A reader while showing his frustration says, “Can someone explain to me why these idiot conservatives are actually fighting to keep healthcare costs high and rising? Don’t these tools look at DATA and see what everyone else sees? The U.S. pays more and get less. This isn’t a state secret. It’ain’t rocket science. What happened to republicans in the last 20 years that made them dumb? Reagan republicans (of which i WAS one) were not dumb”.
Another reader has this to say, “My guess is that the Supremes will approve Obama’s heathcare law. To reject it would take away a potential gravy train from big healthcare and insurance corporations. It was heavy lobbying by these special interests that got the thing through Congress in the first place”.
